Need Help. I was doing some work with the tractor and I had to get off to pick up something, the tractor stop running. I tried to restart the tractor and the starter does not turn over. Solenoid fuse is OK. All lights work.
The tractor is 6 months old with 44 hours on it. What do I check next?

Hi,

For the rest of us BX,BX22 & 23 the neutral switch, would be the one to check, but I think the BX24 does not have this. The safety switch under the seat, is probably the problem.

Could also be that the pto lever is "on".

I've had the same problem and it was the PTO lever switch.

My vote is for the PTO lever as well. Either that or the thing is in gear. It has to be in neutral to start.

I checked to make sure the PTO was off, and the tractor is in neutra.

IF the pto is off and the range select is in neutral then it sounds like one of the safety switches may have come loose and isn;t making good contact or one or all is bad. With so few hrs I would think more along a loose switch than a bad one.

When you turn the key on do the easy checker lights come on?
Will the glow plug lamp lite when you tun the key switch to glowplug?

Make sure all electrical connections are tight, including the battery.

The problem sounds like it's in one of those safety switches tho.....

Check to see if the lights come on when you try to start the engine. If no lights, then a dead battery or bad connection. If the lights work, then it is a safety switch issue or a starter switch. Try wiggling the hydro lever and PTO levers while turning the key. You might need the assistance of another person to do this. Also, depress the hydro pedals to make sure that they are neutral. Most likely it is one of the safety's. Also check the on under the seat. If all else fails, contact your dealer.

Sometimes you have to hold one of the levers in a certain position. Try holding the key in the start position and slightly moving each lever to the neutral position. If it is the lever, the starter will crank when you hold it in exactly the right spot.

My starting problem must have been one of my safety switches. When I had a change to work on it today I moved the PTO lever back and forth while trying to stat it. the starter still would not turn. I then raised the seat to again check the safety switches, wires, and connections. After some time moving wires back and forth, checking wire connections and trying to start it, IT STARTED. I have two switches under the seat, one black and one gray. When I push the black one in I get a clicking sound when I push the gray one in I don't hear any. Does any one know what the back switch is for and what the gray one is for?

I want to thank all for the help I received.
