My Dad was a COWBOY raised in the Texas Panhandle. Notice the pearl handle on his hip! They raised Greyhounds to run the Coyotes to ground. M.C.jpgCowboy M.C. with Bossy near Brown house.jpgCowboy M C.jpg He worked extra jobs so we could have horses. My brother and I had 4 horses to ride when we were young. We would ride once a week during school and every day during the summer.:D Back when kids under 12 had free rarge to ride 9 miles for a Dr. Pepper. Back when you could play all day away from home as long as you were home before dark and supper. YES, I love riding horses. You could pull back on the reins of my paint mare and she would rear up like Silver did for the Lone Ranger.

Hopefully, my neighbors will give me the colt their mare just had, cause the colt makes 6 horses and they can only afford 5.

Those pictures are so COOL!!! I have a couple of those pearl handled side arms, my favorite is a 44-40, my wife likes her 357 Birdshead. Yes we have a shooting range in back, my wife and I both like shooting. Growing up in NM, I actually rode my horse to school...

So what are you going to do with said colt? BTW, we have 6 horses and I can't afford any  They are a big reason I work.

How did you get from NM to FL? That colt will make me a horse trader. I want to start raising cows again. Longhorns would be nice, but not here where I am now.....not enough room. Or get my ex bull rider friend from Tampa to teach me how to break horses. The spoils from digging the ponds are my shooting backstop.
Oh yeah........what's a Birdshead? Dad rode his horse to school. He also ran his trap line before school. He did that until he had to free a skunk from his trap after he to shot it and then went to school.

How I got to FL is a story to tell while watching the sun set over the pasture while the horses are grazing and listening to the wildlife. I bought a true Texas longhorn once when I was in my teens while working the sale barn... turned out to be the meanest living creature on the planet! Watched my Mom stomp across the backyard carrying my Dads shotgun and headed for the pen. She never did say what it did, but if I remember correctly we butchered him out that weekend. DON"T MESS WITH MOM!!! LOL

A Bull Rider in Tampa? LOL I did rodeo for 6 years, 3 in HS and 3 in College. That was my Scholarship at UNM

The first pic is my Pearl Handles, 1 white, 1 black

I built the gate today. It is solid and heavy for it's size.6-7-15 Rebecca's Gate Standing Up.jpg6-7-15 Rebecca's Gate Laying Down.jpg
Installation is next Friday evening.

Looking good, what kind of hinges are you using? If you take a belt sander and make a slight bevel on the latching side it will help with expansion and contraction.

Thanks! I have T strap hinges and also heavy "door" style hinges. I will decide upon installation. I'll probably end up beveling the back side for swinging the arc. I am undecided which way to swing at this time, as the slope wants to swing out. Yet I want it to swing in. I'll take a shovel and hoe just in case I decide inward swinging.

Well, I finished it all Friday evening. I cut the posts to 6 inches above the top 2x4 and installed the light caps. They had about 4 good hours of sun and stayed illuminated all night. The gate install was easy, except for the corner, latch post being a little off of plumb. A few small passes of 45 degree miter with the skil saw fixed all that. I really love how it all turned out. I am concerned about the concrete being too narrow. A few days sunshine and the ground already has good size cracks that will swallow small hardware and fasterners. I told my daughter to water the base of the concrete once a week. 6-12-15 Fence from the back left.jpg6-12-15 Fence from the back right.jpg6-12-15 Fence Profile.jpg6-12-15 Fence Finished.jpg6-12-15 Gate Backside.jpg6-12-15 Gate Installation.jpg
