My dogs killed neighbors chicken

My 2 points are very much separate but I can see where you could read it otherwise.

That is, if a dog, yours or otherwise, jumped on me and I made no attempt to greet them, then they get to meet my knee not my soft belly nor my face.

What happens after that depends on the dog and owner.

If you can't keep your dog from jumping up on my chest or face, then keep him on a leash or at home.

I'm not talking about asking if I can pet your dog then kneeing him, mister.

I suggest you reread the post I assume you're referencing mister.
Note: My shop, ergo the dogs territory as well and not out running down the odd pedestrian.
Note: The dog did no longer jump ON but straight UP in front of them, ergo she never laid a paw on the man.

I can teach people about dogs and training of the same.
But I don't teach reading comprehension.

I read quite capably. I am not talking about your shop. I'm talking about dogs jumping up on a person in general. It's not always about you.

...........
Same here. When a dog jumps near your face, especially a large aggressive breed, you react.

Excuuuouse me.
Let me see now, ah yes I've been following this thread since the beginning and I'm the only one to have mentioned a dog jumping and knees in the chest.
Thanks, don't know how I could have made the mistake.

Sorry Folks.
There's the way it "used to be", and there's todays reality.

Doesn't matter it was on his property, and he "warned" her they bite. He's still legally responsible.
From a court's point of view:
1) proven lack of control ( bit her while he was present. Might have been worse if they were alone).
2) Animal was still aggressive to a ( most likely much smaller) female, in the presence of the male owner.
3) Owner verbalized he knew there might be trouble ( repeat performance? )

Put in a swimming pool. Neighborhood kids break in, and one drowns, guess who's in court?

That woman could have been the mailman, UPS,FedEx, etc.. I think he's lucky it wasn't a cop the dog bit.
The "verbal" warning doesn't matter. The victim could have been deaf, disabled, non-English speaking, a small child.

Not saying I agree with the laws, but that's the way it is.

There's a lot of questions to be answered by the op.

We're just marking time till or rather seeing if he'll come back and give us the rest of the story.

I don't think he'll be back.

<snip>Reminds me of the one where a burglar broke into someone's house, cut themselves on a kitchen knife or something, and sued the homeowner and won. [/COLOR]Yes it happens everyday, see the recent thread of one of our Aussie bretheren. Maybe not where I live or where you live, but in many jurisdictions the burglar has rights. And one of those rights is to make a living without getting hurt by careless homeowners.<snip>

Wrong. Missouri has the Castle Doctrine in place since 2007. Essentially that means you as a resident of the property, has no duty to retreat from the bad "guy" before using deadly force. And a usual sub-clause in most of those that if a person is on your property illegally, they can't sue the owner for any injury. The Missouri legislature was working in April to extend that to your guests as well.
