My dream tractor: is there such a thing?

It hasn't got big wheels all around but... hi.jpg
I think these machines are pretty neat.

The problem is keeping PTO power transfer and equipment aligned when pushing. Only modest mechanical power transfers are possible pushing, then hydraulic power transfer is required.

When pulling everything self-aligns.
I can see several workable solutions to that problem. Ever watch a haybine or wheat combine at work?

1) Not exactly a tractor really, but basically an articulated loader, for tight quarters maneuvering without tearing up the ground.
2) SSQA loader to accept my existing attachments
3) front hydraulics with enough flow to run a 5 ft., front mounted bush hog
4) 4WD with big tires all around
5) 40 to 50ish HP
6) maybe a heated cab but low profile for mowing around trees. (Or easily removeable in nice weather.)

Is there such a thing?
Here is my dream machine, cab with heat and air, SSQA, 6' wide, 6.5' high and 13' long. Tire size is 14x17.5. Top speed is 15.5 mph, drawbar pull is 7,000 pounds, boom breakout force is 6700 lbf, bucket breakout force is 4700 lbf and it will lift over 5,000 pounds, 17 feet high.

There usually isn't one machine that will do everything. I love my articulated toys but they can be very unstable on slopes and you have to be very quick and clear minded to avoid over turning! Plus, you can get really close to things that you then can't get back away from!

The tractive effect is just awsome, with four equal sized wheels running in the same track! But the absolute best thing about (most) wheel loaders is the visability to the tool, unmatched only by a skid steer, but the operators view and comfort are just that much better.

Power Trac has a 45 degree slope mower. My PT425 is highly stable on side slopes, too.

Yeah, a V417 is exactly what comes to mind when I think of an articulated loader for tight quarters maneuvering around trees with no cab.

OP here.

You guys either own, or have dredged up, some interesting tractors for me to check out. Ferrari seems to be a collection of some European possibillities but their web site just shows a superficial overview. And I like Ferrari99's recommendation- It looks like a hybrid-tractor/dune buggy.

Still, in Indiana, well away from the vineyards, buying one of these exotics, well away from dealer support, and reselling it when the time comes, might be hard to justify.

Thanks, All.

Would this work for your mowing? :D

I think it has a little more hp than you requested and it might not be very gentle on the turf with the bear paw ring chains!

I used to have this Dynalift. Got it stuck once in the wetlands and yes, with some work, it extricated itself. I kind of miss the old girl, especially if I need to tweek something on the underside of my Ride! Scary as heck when twelve tons starts sliding on ICE!

I was just showing a better machine than an articulated loader, "for tight quarters maneuvering without tearing up the ground". The OP wanted a cab.

I use the V417 in the woods a lot, with 4 wheel steering and 6.5' cab height, it will go where tractors and loaders can't.
