My Early Father\'s Day KK 48\" Tiller Tail

On Saturday I went to the TSC that is near my lake property with the wife and youngest son to pick up a couple bucks of bolts and some new rubber boots for the boy.

Upon arrival I noticed a pen in the parking lot with Clearance banner on it. I quickly scanned it and saw it had a Tiller, some sprayers, dirt scoops etc.

I herded the misses toward the corral and pointed out the Tiller. I said wow it's clearanced for $945 that is like it was a couple of years ago before prices went up. Normal price showed $1136.

I said I should really have this for the garden. Just then another fellow chimed in as he was loading something in his truck and said "yeah all guys need tools like that" I said yeah honey he's right. Again another gentlemen getting in his truck after passing by us hearing the conversation chimes in "Hey she could get it for you for fathers day"

At this point she has turned tail and is heading toward the store. I quickly follow with a thanks to the fellows for the moral support and effort.

We complete our shopping and upon leaving I herd her toward the pen again mentioning that it sure would be nice as when I had hand tilled the other day it sure was harder than I remember last year /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

She turns to me with a grin and say's honey if you really want it go ahead and get it. Needless to say I almost fell over /forums/images/graemlins/shocked.gif

Now it was all in my court, do I really spend the money, do I really need the tiller /forums/images/graemlins/confused.gif

I decided to go ahead and finish our errands (had to pick up some beer) and think about it before buying. Well as you all know just the presence of beer made me decide it was the right thing to do.

So we stopped back by and I bought it.

Here it is on the trailer..........

Here it is mounted after I received the collective wisdom of the TBNer's (several to thank, but especially Mike C as he had just done the exact one) on cutting the PTO shaft.

Now for the garden as I left it last week after plowing and hand roto-tilling the 1st 1/3rd of it.

Another view as the last one seemed a little blurry.

Re: My Early Father\'s Day KK 48\" Tiller Tail

Funny how things work..........

About 26 hours from time I unloaded the tiller elapsed before I started tilling. Of that, 1 1/2-2 hours were set up, greasing, filling oil reserves, cutting the PTO shaft etc.

All of that for 20 minutes of fun....er a work and now I have to wait another 6-8 months before I till it again /forums/images/graemlins/frown.gif

Doesn't seem fair does it. No wonder many ponder doing a little side business.

You could always re-till the front yard, like Mike did. /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

Re: My Early Father\'s Day KK 48\" Tiller Tail

Yeah I think some of that is coming. When I got back in the car after purchasing the unit, the wife said you know you can also use that to till up the front yard for the flower beds I want to plant /forums/images/graemlins/smirk.gif

She had her reasons and it wasn't just good hearted fathers day /forums/images/graemlins/blush.gif But I'm not complaining as she's a keeper!

Ohh, I sure like the looks of that mounted up. I'm in the market for one as well. Even being single, I still enjoy consulting the malt before making a final decision /forums/images/graemlins/wink.gif
