Zolt .. FYI .. I can see in your pics that you have the top link still resting in its cradle when you have the cutter attached. This gizmo is for holding the top link when it is not attached to something so it doesn't flop around.

FYI

My toplink is too short to use with the mower.

I'm debating how to resolve this, either getting a longer top link from TSC or I've also heard of people rigging up some kind of chain toplink.

In any case, it seems to mow fine w/o the toplink, and that gizmo does it's job of keeping to toplink from flopping around when i'm mowing ;)

I use chain on my brush cutter and rfm.......works great............nothing to bend!

Good luck!

You should install either a chain or top link on your setup. Likes been said, a chain works great as it's more flexable than a toplink w/ much more give & take.
As it is now, I doubt you can lift the entire cutter up off the ground. No sense in having all that wear and tear on the rear wheel when just transporting it, not to mention clearing tall obstacles.

Good luck

Happy to hear you got it working without big problems. Looking at the picture, it appears that the top link extends below and beyond the upper 3pt. attachment so it seems long enough. You might try different positions for the linkage. If you adjust the links for the wheel you should be able to level the deck more for a better cut. All in all, the deck should be level, but not sliding along on the skids for the best cutting action.

Thanks guys for the feedback. The top link is maybe 1/4 inch too short with the ends fully extended and it doesn't seem wise to run it with the ends that far out. When I level out the mower w/ side link height adjustments, I like the height it levels at for my use so I don't really want to play with the linkage.

Can anybody suggest any links to research for using a chain? I haven't found any specifics on this solution yet.

I am not able to lift the rear wheel off the ground right now, didn't think I was supposed to be able to, but it sounds like maybe I should. I assume if I had the toplink hooked up I could? It would be nice to be able to lower the mower, in reverse, over a problem area... with the wheel on the ground this is more challenging.

My bigger problem is all the ruts and rocks in my field. The tractor and mower really bounce around and at points it doesn't seem safe. I think as I mow the field more often I'll learn where those areas are and how best to approach them, but I'm thinking I'll just dump a couple truckloads of fill dirt onto the field, level it off, then topsoil and re seed. This seems easier then using the FEL to pull the rocks then box blading all the problem areas. Any suggestions?
