My First Earthquake....

Glad to be far from the action, but I still felt it here in
Greensboro, NC...3rd floor of an old building. We've joked before about the stability of this building, but I've never actually felt it move until yesterday--not much more than light fixtures and the bottle of water on my desk vibrating. It briefly reminded me of the feeling you get, lying in a ditch at Ft. Bragg, when an M-1 Abrams tank rolls by at 40 mph! /forums/images/graemlins/shocked.gif

5 years in Tokyo felt many earthquakes. Got so that you just waited for it to stop and continue on. Most times at night I never woke up even when items were thrown off the dresser.

The one they had in Georgia I think last summer could be felt here. Mom works in a town over on the 4th floor of the hospital and they felt it good. Folks felt it good here but I missed it just slept through it. My younger brother told me he felt it.
A few years ago a big 3 story house a Dr. had blew up from a natural gas leak. It was 25 miles away and we hear and felt the tremble in the ground I cant imagine how the houses next to it survived. The only thing that they think set it off was a fan running in the upstairs The The dr. had been out of town on business.
