Man now y'all have me worried!
Don't be. These things were designed simple for export to anywhere in the world. Any fluid available today that claims it meets/exceeds the outdated JD303 spec, is probably much better lubrication than what Yanmar designed these to run on. I don't recall we've ever read here of a UTF-related problem, ever.
Yanmar's manuals suggest a 5 minute warmup before moving the tractor. I doubt any of us do that, at least in mild weather. I think that was to allow time for the single-grade UTF to warm up and flow easily.
And a piece of trivia, from Soundguy (an early founder of this group and a YM1700 owner) - real JD303, along with the first ATF, contained whale oil. It is a superior lubricant but no longer available. So modern '303' UTF simply meets 303 performance specs but does that with different additives.
Soundguy is an engineer in a contracting company that runs millions of dollars of heavy earthmoving equipment. He says when equipment calls for 303-spec UTF that's what they use in those expensive hard working machines - same as what Clemsonfor sees in the professional logging equipment.
In summary, don't worry. Anything claimed 303 compatible is sufficient for these simple gear tractors. You could replace the fluid more frequently than the several-year intervals that most of us use if you are concerned about the quality of the fluid, or about contamination by dirt or water.
