My house, barn and pond project

FEMA.. Isn't that a government operation? Unless you keep pinging them about your request I doubt they will ever look at it.
I've live down here in southern Indiana for 23 years now and there was a town located on the 100 year flood plain. They were fine for a long time, but one spring we had horrible rains and the whole town flooded. The town council even though about moving the town up the hill about 1/2 a mile. But since it only happened once in about 100 years they decided to take their chances.
With the rains we've been getting the last month, I'm sure they are rethinking that decision.

I guess you missed the part where I was three feet above the 100 year flood plain. Your town was obviously below it. Half of this county would have to flood to get to my house and lots of others would be in the same boat.

As far as FEMA, they were quick to respond to my flood insurance request and quick to ask for the engineering results, however long this takes is as long as it takes, I cant do anything about it. Flood insurance is only $250 a year anyways

Here is a pic of the living room, you can see how they shipped the carpet, padding, and parts of the roof trusses inside the house

Here you can see how the roof is folded down for transport, once setup the roof will have an 8:12 pitch

This is the assembled roof truss, there is tons of room up here but I am not sure what I am going to do with it yet. I wish I had gotten a good pic of the R-48 ceiling insulation, it was a solid 2 ft thick.100_1764 small.jpg

Here is the hinge on the truss to make the home setup much faster100_1766 small.jpg

The last 2 feet or so of the roof had to be shingled on site but it only took about two hours for the crew 100_1781 small.jpg

My neighbor has a house like yours. Built on a basement. After he got it set and the brick layed on the foundation/basement you can't even tell it's a modular home. A lot of the basement is above ground. Very good construction with 2x6 trusses and 2x6 wall studs. His has 2x10 floor joists and is very well insulated.

At first you could tell where the seam was in the roof, but after a few hot days the shingles layed down and now you can't tell.

They had to set his with a 100 ton crane. Wish I had a video of that, but I don't.

Hey Chris, my shingles blended after a week or two also.

My house actually has truss style floor joists, I need to get a pic of them but I can't with my bad knee right now. The joists are made of 2x3's and the spaces between them allows for all the plumbing and wiring so the crawlspace looks very clean. Also the wider joists makes the floor feel more solid and flex less.

I didnt have my camera the day they set the house, but my crew didnt use a crane. They used aluminum I-beams in the vent holes of the foundation and rolled the house off the transport trailer via the I-beams. It was very slick and a lot less stressful on the house than picking it up with a crane. The rollers went North-South and East-West so it was very easy for the crew to make adjustments on the house before they set it finally. I need to get my ma to bring the pics over it was pretty cool.
