View of the house from the west, along with garage and part of the meadow. Today's storm has blown virtually all the leaves off the trees, but the sheep are still enjoying good graze. Sure hope for decent weather on Friday when our TBN friends arrive!

We got our home when we saw this air photo in the local House Trader magazine. Came looking out of curosity to find the owner was ill and wanted to move back east to his kids. We got the house for what was owed at the time, about one third of the asking price in '96. The value has trippled since then. I wish we had your trees. We removed the decorative rock and replaced it with sod and have planted several new trees.

Your home really does look like it belongs on a post card.

Thanks, guys!

In addition to my other duties at work, I have become the unofficial company photographer. So when we needed some aerial shots of the plant for a proposed expansion permit, the unofficial company pilot invited me along. And since my land is between the plant and the airport...

Sure was a rough ride, though! The turbulence that low had my head banging off the canopy! And even at 1/2000th shutter speed, many of the images were blurry!

Hills, colour, trees, grass, privacy. Tis a nice place.

Now for the rocking chair picture where you enjoy a fresh lemonade, smell the country and relax.

very very nice pic. the colors seem to be a lot more vibrant than on the trees down here. a very non colorful fall(compared to ususal) very good shot, how high were u(would imagine quite low) and how did u stop it from blurring?

Frank -- we were at about 500' being buffeted pretty badly. With a storm coming in the turbulence off the hills was tooth-rattling! I set the shutter speed at 1/2000 to compensate, but even so about a third of my shots were blurry.

The pilot is very good. His plane is heavily reinforced for aerobatics (struts and braces all over the place), and for this shot he managed to slide sideways for a few seconds. If I hadn't been exposed to that kind of flight in the Marine Corps there would have been a big pucker factor involved! /forums/images/graemlins/shocked.gif I think he likes flying with me because I don't complain or throw up in his back seat. /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

Looks like you've got a green metal roof. How do you like it? (I'm considering roofing options for a new house)

Nope, just ordinary asphalt shingles in an unusual greenish hue...or maybe they molded!

Looks Great !

Tis a great thing to be able to get aerial photos of your house.

Mine (posted many many moons ago now) were at a much greater height so don't look anywhere near as good as yours.

Might have to go lower next time!

Gee I love the colour of the trees etc.

CHEERS !!

Neil -- Thanks! I was actually hoping the pilot would go higher, as I was hoping to be able to see the old stone walls in the woods. But he was a hot dog and his plane was all reinforced for aerobatics...so he felt obliged to part the tree tops! Fun ride, though. Always a pleasure seeing home from a different perspective.

On TerraServer I found a satellite shot of my land from 1996. I can see the pond, the house and garage, and even my old Pathfinder parked out front!

Terraserver is a pretty neat web site. Of course, my house isn't on there, since I just had it built this year, but it's interesting to look at none the less.

The county where we used to live photographed the entire county in color from the air and uses it for their tax maps, complete with property lines drawn in! It's pretty interesting to go online and see color images from 1994 AND from 2000 and see the changes we made in our old house between those years (new deck, side addition, new roof, etc). You can even see which cars were parked in the driveway in each photo too!

Yes - high = happy. /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

Low = not enough time to fix something if it goes bad !!! /forums/images/graemlins/frown.gif

Cheers
