My kid's first trip to the ER

I don't have children myself.
But, I'm absolutely convinced that children need to climb trees.
Jump off of things.
Fall off of things.
And pound their fingers a few times with a hammer.

Most parents may want to bubble wrap their kids, but children really need to just be kids sometime.

Yup, give them enough rope to hang themselves and be sure to be there to cut the rope. Small injuries teach them to be AWARE when you are not THERE.

The garbage can will catch him. (nothing sharp in there)
Probably not in a clinic.
It doesn't have a red bag. ;)
Nor is it a rigid plastic box
But, you never know.

Glad all worked OK. Terrible 2's are ahead of you. Our 2 sons had there share of emergency trips to the ER. They both survived and now have their own kids. Who have survived their 2's. There children (our grand kids) are now having babies. They still have the 2's to look forward too.:D

Kids are going to get their boo-boos, that's just normal. As a parent, you want to remember that your reaction to those moments is being absorbed.

Poor little guy, we had plenty of trips to the ER with ours as they grew and even some with grand kids; sure does hurt to see them hurt.

Congratulations, you got the first one out of the way. It's kinda like denting your new car/truck, the first is the worst. I'm sorry he got hurt, that's never nice, but it's bound to happen. With three kids between 2 and 6, I should have my own parking spot at the ER :D

When my middle daughter was about his age, we had her at the children's hospital so they could install tubes in her ears (fairly common for kids that get lots of ear infections). It was pretty nerve racking as a parent, but sitting in that waiting room talking to other parents who where dealing with some truly serious issues makes you realize how lucky you are.

The wife and I have raised three kids. Each have had their ER trips. Our 20 year old daughter spent three days in the hospital a couple of weeks ago. You don't ever get over that helpless feeling in the pit of your stomach and thinking, "I wish I could fix this" but knowing you have to count on other experts to take care of your child.

I hope your son heals quickly. Keep being the good dad that you are! Your son will be 23 and taller than you are in the blink of your eye! You can guess how I know.
