Emmy71, I recognize those switches. They mount extremely nicely and easily in perfectly rectangular holes. How did you cut your dash? Xacto knife? They're also amazingly cheap for the quality of the switch. Non-waterproof Grote toggle switches cost more than those do (at least where I've looked). Where did you source yours? How much, if you don't mind me asking...

I am very happy with the way the switches turned out. I really like them because they are easy to use with gloves on. I tried to cut the dash first with a Dremel but it was just too hard to control. I ended making a template with a piece of paper the same size as the switch and tracing it onto the dash. I then drilled holes in the corners and cut between them by hand with a pneumatic recipricating blade mounted in a screwdriver type handle. You can find those blades at any home center usually with the jig saw blades. I then cleaned up the holes with a file. I got the switches at Bass Pro Shop. It seems the prices have gone up some since I purchased mine. As you can see in the link they offer different configurations. I believe Kennyd used the same switches but upgraded to the cool lighted ones.

Nice job Terry and the switches provide another good reason to go to the Bass Pro Shop! Double thanks for that one....Wayne

You mean something like this mini-Sawzall? Looks like a nice shop addition to a jigsaw. A screwdriver handle on one of the blades would help keep your dash from looking like a horror-video reject. Bit overkill for dash work I guess... :) I like the lighted versions of those switches, too. I don't think my local supplier carries those.

Those are the exact blades I used. Got them at Home Depot and were the Blu Mol brand. The handle I used is a Dewalt brand and it is made to mount recipricating blands in. Unfortunately, I don't remember where I got it. I imagine someone else also makes one.

Update.... things have been quite hectic around here lately so not much time to work on the tractor, but here are a few pictures of the progress so far. First one is the SunGuard canopy and the front lights mounted (although not wired yet).

Used a piece of angle iron, mounted to the bolts for the canopy to mount the lights to.

No power yet, but the fuse block is in and wires routed to the rear of the tractor where they will be wired to a six plug connector and then onto the canopy.

Kenny- Where did you get that 4 gang switch plate you mounted your switches in? It's exactly what I've spent the morning looking for.... :)

Z,
I got it at a marine supply store..West Marine I think...

Thanks- Could not find them there either, only 1, 2 or 3 wide ones.

Been looking at McMaster, AceHardware, West Marine, jamestowndistributors, Bass Pro Shop, and a dozen other google hits... No luck yet, but I don't give up easily. :)

This one is sure pretty, but at $99 for the four slot one I'm going to have to pass:

Edit: OK, finally found them. I had to "view catalog page" to get to the parts numbers I needed:

West Marine Annual Catalog - page 425

The switches there at $40 each though, and I think the same ones are available at the Bass Pro Shop for $12 each.
