Given how asthmatic those old tacomas were with just an (empty) pickup bed I dread to think of how they'd be with a camper body. Like trying to tow with a VW beetle or something.I had a 22R in an 87 Mini Motorhome. It ran great except for the overdrive. It didn't have enough horsepower to even make a slight grade in OD. Mostly ran with the OD switch off. And it was a gas guzzler.
They are not Toyota Tacomas - they are Toyota pickup.Given how asthmatic those old tacomas were with just an (empty) pickup bed I dread to think of how they'd be with a camper body. Like trying to tow with a VW beetle or something.
They were based on Toyota's one-ton pickup at the time. The frame was only extended for the rear bumper and water tanks. As I found out, they weren't made to get anywhere in a hurry. They were made to live in and actually quite nice at doing that. They weren't made to tow anything, but they were able to go where a car could go.Given how asthmatic those old tacomas were with just an (empty) pickup bed I dread to think of how they'd be with a camper body.
