My Mahindra dealer is closing their doors

Same thing happened to me in Virginia. My dealer just up and dropped the Mahindra line. I asked why and he said that Mahindra didn't want to pay out for warranty repairs. From my understanding my dealer had filed suite for $27,000 in unpaid warranty repairs against Mahindra. I really hope if this is the case that Mahindra fixes their relationship with my dealer and others if in the same situation.

I really love my Mahindra. I will say that six months after my powertrain warranty expired, I started to have a major problem and Mahindra did meet me half way on the ball field. I just wonder if my dealer ever got reimbursed.

I hope all turns out well for you . Could happen to any of us for sure, after seeing the Long,Montana dealers spring up then disappear it kept me to the long time players in my local market JD and kubota.

I've known Steve for years and have always enjoyed working with him. We will miss him. The Portland area is a great area for a dealer, and I'm sure Mahindra will place a dealer in the area as soon as a suitable company can be found. Meanwhile, the folks in Eugene are great, and for parts UPS from them to Portland area would be cheap and quick.

This has me worried as well. I just bought my 6110 from Valley View a couple of months ago. Now I'll have to trek 2 1/2 hours to Eugene. I'm finding that the reasons that I chose Mahindra are invalidated one by one.

I won't tolerate small-town cliquish businesses; I'm OK with driving out of town.

I'm preparing myself to assume some of the "duties" of a dealer (for myself); I plan to fully-utilize my access to the internet, Corporate HQ in Huston, the Territorial Business Manager, the N/W Service Rep, the dealer in Eugene, and.........the consumer-protection industry if necessary.

I'm going over the warranty with a "fine toothed comb".

The reasons I chose this dealer are also the main reasons I do most of my shopping on-line; being a brood-stock (army retiree) with very-few local-ties to groups or "associations", I depend heavily on my judge of character when buying anything local, and this tractor dealership had my business because they sold a good product (with a warranty) and were a great-great group of people.

I never ask a business for "deals", "breaks", or favors of ANY kind, only fairness and privacy; Valley View Tractor did that for a "stranger" like me.

that sucks!
The stability of the dealers is one of the reasons I went orange with my new tractor, My closest mah dealer is 45 min away and it seems like a sideline for him and the next closest is 1 1/2 hours away. I liked there product but the dealer network scared me off.

That's what I thought. I bought my first new tractor in 2005 from a local Kubota dealer (B7510HST with the LA302 FEL). An established dealer with a good parts and service setup. Figured he'd be my tractor dealer for years.

Wrong. Six months later he was out of business after 35 years selling orange. Family problems--owner passed away a few years earlier and the kids couldn't agree on continuing and decided to close the business. Maybe I could have learned some of this background from the sales guy if I would have thought to ask, assuming he would have been willing to discuss the dirty laundry with a customer. Another caveat emptor lesson.

The dealer where I bought quit selling Mahindra also. Dealer was about 30 minutes from me, and has been in business for many years. Still in business but do not sell or service Mahindra. Found another dealer about 30 minutes away. Before I needed any service that dealer quit selling/servicing Mahindra also. Bummer. My 2815 HST had a recall on the FEL mounting hardware. Seems Mahindra attached some of the hardware to the engine block. This put extra strain on the engine and the engines were being damaged. Duh! I did find another dealer about an hour from me that would do the work, but I had to take it to them. I told them I had no way to get it to the dealer. They told me they would pick it up and return it for $60. After I griped about it being Mahindra's fault, not mine, they agreed to not charge me. Cool. I was also told the repair should take about 2 weeks. I got it back 3 weeks later because Mahindra kept sending them the wrong parts! I have had my Mahindra almost 5 years and really like it. However, should I ever need to buy another tractor I will get green/yellow or orange. They have dealers all over the place.

In the last 10 years, within 50 miles of us, we have seen one JD, three Kubota, one Case and one NH dealer close the doors or change ownership. For those that closed, within a year or so, they were picked up by other guys and are back in business now. So keep in mind that for various reasons dealerships close or change brands. It is not limited to Mahindra. I will agree that a very well established JD dealership is a better bet to stay in business than a start up business of any brand, but even decades old JD dealers have folded or were pushed into new ownership in the last couple of years.

Rest assured that Mahindra is not happy to see a dealer close in an area like Portland, which Valley View services. They will actively seek a good dealer to serve the area. It's a good tractor market that can support strong sales, and there is a fairly large customer base that owns Mahindra. It will not lack a dealer for long.

I get a kick out of folks who seem to be angry with Mahindra for a dealer going out of business. It is a personal affront that such a thing could happen and it must be from some form of malicious intent. It is what is called growing pains, it happens to any company and it happened to Kubota, has happened to Kioti and will always be a factor in business. I could have paid 4 grand more for a lesser green tractor if I wanted to deal with the 70 year old dealership, but I am fine taking my chances with a red machine. I know the risks.

Ever notice how when you are on a customer list you always get bombarded with flyers, so THEY can try and make more money. They can't use that same list to let you know they are closing. Why? Because there is nothing in it for them and they don't want to spend the time or money! And yet they all give the BS about how much they "CARE" about their customers!
