Ask for extra warranty after they come back with numbers and after you get the interest rate set in stone .Which style D ? What about the shielding on the machine ? Make sure you get it ! New or used head and mower ? Single flange idlers ?Track condition ?

Been home today taking care of my sick 16mnth old son. So gave me some time to finish up estimates and made a proof for some 4'x8' signs to put up while working and on few properties I bushhogg that the owners have permission for me to put up signs.
Pushing the benefits of mulching and being Eco-friendly seems to be helping
Also got a call today to look at another 10acre underbrush clearing job.

Not even looking at the numbers. I would highly recommend looking at the Fecon DCR rotor and asking if they can run carbide teeth. Ot even 2 used heads, one carbide and one blades. When I was mulching I would love to mulch against FAE's. I could out produce them at least 2-1. I even went on a demo (when with Cimaf) that I had to clean up after the FAE/Cat head. Give yourself the best chance to suceed and use the technology available to be as productive as possible. The dealer will include whatever head you want , you just have to demand what you want. They will accommodate you not to loose a machine sale.

So on this link is the one you call blades the chipper tool? Tools - Fecon

This is the head I ran that I thought was crap. It plugged, took forever mulching, and would leave huge chunks of **** everywhere that would destroy tractor tires later and more of a mess than standing trees for what I wanted to do, pasture reclamation. I'm wondering if the "blade" would have been better? 20120917_143704.jpg

No, that is the pre-historic model, no offense Fecon. Very tough rotor but very old. The chippers they make for this rotor were not the best. You are looking for a large diameter smooth rotor similar to the one Bobcat has private labeled. I believe they have removed pictures of the DCR from there website. Your Fecon guy is Bob Candy (i think) call Fecon and ask for info on it.

Hmm. It would have been late summer of 2012 when I had them bring that demo out. I told them I wasn't spending close to 30k on that piece of crap

You should be able to get a new 299DHXP with the dealer installed debris kit for what they quoted you on the used one. Go with the fecon head and it will save you about $5K.

I run this head and swear buy it. I drive my ute over my work and have NEVER had a puncture in 8yrs. If you put the door on it leaves a completely different product. I run against FAE Loftness an will piss all over them any day of the week in any timber and terrain. A good workman never blames his tools

So the HDT is old technology or not as good as smooth drum? Here I've been wondering if I'm missing something running a smooth drum FAE (remember I'm in rocky areas) with a few chipper blades the middle of the drum.
My Bobcat dealer just got a new fecon head in with a smooth drum. Looks like the Bobcat drum but it's got a single bolt to attach teeth. I've been considering switching for FAE to Fecon to keep all my service in-house but can't get a demo to see what the shreds look like. My FAE leaves a pretty good finished product.
