In my head gasket set there are 4 copper washers but I can't seem to figure out where they go.

   / My new 4300 project #122
Are they all the same size? In the Parts Catalogue pic of the Head Gasket Kit there are 3 items shown where the 'Quantity' shows as 2 of each.

They all look similar in size but without actually holding them to view... only you can tell us. Check ID, OD, Thickness.

Did you purchase the genuine kit from JD?

In my head gasket set there are 4 copper washers but I can't seem to figure out where they go.

There should be 3 thick (almost 1/8" inch) copper washers for the injectors (as well as the 3 plastic sleeves for the nozzles, push them ALL the way on the injector till they hit the nut, taper first, otherwise they will burn up). If you have 4 you might have gotten an extra by accident. Pictures?

The other place that a pair of similar diameter washers are, but much thinner, is for the banjo fitting that supplies oil to the injection pump.

I seem to remember having some leftover copper washers when I was done now that I think about it. The maxiforce kit is for a few different applications of the 3tne84 so it isn't surprising to have some extra parts. I remember having several exhaust and intake manifold gaskets left over. I also don't think it came with the water pump gaskets for my engine but I used RTV anyway with no issues. I seem to have better luck with RTV than paper gaskets anyway.

I'm not seeing what you're seeing I guess, part number?

FYI the injectors copper washers in the jd catalog are called "valve seats". They call injectors "injector valves" in the yanmar books so I assume it lost something in translation between yanmar and deere.

I'm only reading the JD Parts Catalogue (since the thread is about a JD 4300 ?)

Sorry the alignment is a bit out.

The Item 36 (Packing) x 3 is the Injector washer I think from memory.

There isn't a 4 x of anything (in the JD kit).

EDIT: Larboc correctly identifies "Valve Seat" as the copper washer. I don't know why only 1 is listed in a complete Head Gasket Kit.

36 is an o-ring, #26 M801017 is the injector copper washer.

No idea what all the rest of those are for. I only remember installing copper washers on the injectors and the injection pump oil line but it's been awhile now.

Thank you for the information, I found it in the manual but the picture doesn't really show which way the ceramic or plastic protectors go on. They do seem to have a taper a slight one maybe. If I ever learn to post pictures on here I will post a couple.

So I just went out and looked and saw the 2 tapers one on the injector and a matching one on the plastic protector. Now I noticed the 3 washers from maxie force are copper but the ones I got with JD head gasket set are steel with a bevel on the edges. I didn't get any of the plastic protectors with the maxxie kit but I did with the jd kit.

Are you sure they are steel? I've never heard of steel crush washers for injectors, always copper. Possibly nickel coated copper? My maxiforce kit definitely came with the plastic nozzle heat shields. Make sure you slide them all the way on before installation. If they aren't all the way on and only get pushed on during assembly of the injector they will be burn up.

Well my tractor is up and running. Got it running the other day but found out I had the steering hoses backwards so it steered opposite than the steering wheel. Got it after stripping it half way down. put a new hood on yesterday and now some new stickers to put on. Hopefully the loader will be back on today. Thank you for all the help I got from everyone. I would have made a lot more mistakes without your help.
