I started out with a 72" then a 84" RFM

I get Excited climbing on my ZD1211 72" RD ZERO

I had to mow 3 acres today. Hasn’t been touched since last fall. Brush hog territory for sure but I was told “it’s not that bad”. I carried the 1211 with me and had to mow one way, the go over it the opposite way. However, it looks great and was several feet high in most places. RD never clogged and had a decent cut for what it was. I think it added maybe 2-2.5 hrs to it. No more than 3 bars for the temp and still on full. Love this mower.

I've owned lots of cars and trucks and in the last 14 years lots of Kubotas. The cars and trucks were gas engines and almost all of the Kubotas are diesel engines. My mind keeps telling me to not do full throttle coming from more years of gas than diesel so running my Kubota F mower at full throttle makes me cringe a bit but to get the best cut from the three I've owned has been produced by running them at full or almost full throttle. I can do test cuts going at full near full throttle and then the next side by side pass at full throttle and see a big difference but......I don't mow every week like my neighbors. I wait till my grass is high enough to see clearly where I have mowed. My brother next door has a magazine worthy LAWN and mows three to four times to my one. If I were just clipping the tops off the blades of grass it may be different but I'm not, I'm cutting the grass that's to high/tall to look good for a yard. My grandson is taking over my mowing chore, mostly, so my wife has him mowing more often because she wants it to look "better" than me and he's 13 so he loves to drive and it also brings him in some cash.
I guess after many years of Kubota F mowers and 72" and rear discharge decks my "advise" is to throttle up to get a better cut. Try it and see if you like it better, same or worse.

I give all my diesels bit of time to warm up before throttling up. I mow at max RPM with the ZD1211. It’s now at 17 Hours in six days of ownership.

I put a bigger drive pulley on gearbox of my 110" RFM to speed up the turtle slow 14k blade tip speed & you'd be amazed how much nicer it cuts.

110” is a huge RFM. What brand?

Befco C70-110 It is the biggest single Deck RFM made. 3 shafts with 2 free swinging blades on each shaft assembly.
They also private label a few models for Frontier (JD) & paint them green.

It's an Italian Mower that's assembled over in North Carolina.

Great story. Might do one myself of my purchase also. Is nice to read about others who have gone through the decision making process and how they came to a conclusion on what's best for them. Either way KUBOTA is good stuff. Congrats on that. You have a mower that will last a lifetime. I mow commercially and have close to 3000 hrs in my zd 331/72. What was pricing on that machine if you don't mind sharing. Thanks!!

Changed my ZD1211 oil & filter today at 57hrs.
14mm wrench fits drain plug 4.1qts

Sharpened Blades but they didn't really need it as I mow at 3.25" & don't hit rocks.
27mm fits RD Blade Bolts but I sharpened them ON the mower.

27mm wrench fits the hyd drain plug. 12.8qts
