Maybe it's all of these features he doesn't like:confused3:

bigbull338's
tractor is an open station and the best I remember from when I was buying the controls are different on the cab and open station.

Overall I like the 60 Series, but prefer the 4WD engagement and PTO lever on our M8540 Series. I own an L5740 and have the push button and can live with it, I just prefer a lever. I also had the rocker switch 4WD on a previous tractor and while it's OK, I prefer levers over switches.

I would still jump all over a 60 Series if needed a new tractor; very nice indeed.

Very Nice looking. I like that the park brake is now integrated and that the range lever looks to be more accessible

My brother is the same way. I left one of my cab tractors out at the family farm as were expecting an unusual for us snow storm, so my brother could use it to plow his and my other brother, nephew and family out to a road. My 5740nsat in the shop while my brother ran his open station up and down the driveways and county road. I don't think you could chain him in a cab.

Interesting & curious what is the dislike for the cab?

Here in the deep south the heat with high humidity (95/95 combo) makes it very uncomfortable 7-8 months out of the year so the AC cab is plus for me. During the winter months it is usually pretty wet and the grass doesn't grow so not a whole lot can be done without tearing up the ground.

Okay, I'll admit that if I was on my tractor today (20 degrees with 25mph wind) I could live with a cab... :D

But, normally I'm like TripleR's brother. I prefer open station. More in tune with what the tractor is doing. Better visibility. Wayyyyy easier to enter/exit. Easier to operate in Timber. Easier to keep track of attachments.

It's a simple matter of what you expect from your tractor. No arguments either way. :)

For us, the ideal combination for many years was a 72 HP open station with FEL and a cab 80 HP with which we could mow in our hot, humid summer months and work in our woods. We would often hop off one and onto another. My father in law had, against my strong advice, initially traded his old open station MF375 for his Case CX80 cab. We have a combination of woods and open fields and were doing about 50-60 acres of reforestation.

After about two weeks of running the cab into things, tearing mirrors and lights off, he had to buy his old tractor back at obviously a higher price than he got on trade. I complimented him on his wisdom.

A couple of years ago my breathing got so bad, I had to go to a second tractor and often wear a pollen mask even in a cab.

I like certain aspects about both types, but in tight quarters, it is hard to beat an open station for visibility and "feel".

I am very careful and keep lim lopper in our tractors, but sometimes, well see attached photo.

I understand, guess it's fair to say there are pros and cons. I've some pretty good hickys on open station machines as well

Oiltech, certainly not distracting from your new tractor. She's a Beaut. If I could just figure out how to convince the Financial Manager that I needed a second one, it would certainly have a cab!!! Congrats on your new tractor!!! :)

Oh you should see our old MF375 and Case/David Brown 995 open station machines.
