My first question...no cherry comments!!

(Yes, I know Kubota has had a problem with this)

My BX24 with 298.3 hours (220 hours in the last 10 months) just turned to 0.0 hours on the meter!! The dash cluster was replaced by the dealer for warranty before my 2 years is up. He gave it to me for the old and I installed it. The hour display was almost black but I could put a lamp above it and when it warmed, the display was crystal clear.

I completed the 300 hour maintenance and they ordered me the dash. I figured I could remember to add an even 300 hours.

My question is, Has anyone tried to seal the back of this thing?? The plastic lens edge has a foam/rubber seal. but where the assembly comes apart has no seal. It also has two holes under there and no sealant around the connector. I was thinking of using some RTV on any place water or condensation could get in. I asked the owner of the dealer what he thought, and he told me they have never tried that.

I do not want another 300 hours then have the same problem. I as also thinking of purchasing a mechanical hour meter just in case. Anyone know of a good one??

Any thoughts or comments??? Even wise crack are OK!!

Thanks,
Dean

Tinytach makes one for a diesel. It's electrical and the battery only lasts 5 years or so. jb
