I think $55 for Pape' to simply check the washer was far too expensive. Five minutes of inspection? Nah.
That $55 was really the "CO-PAY" for the doctors visit to have the guy's shoulder checked,, after the same thing happened to him,,,!!I think $55 for Pape' to simply check the washer was far too expensive. Five minutes of inspection? Nah.
Not all pressure washers using the GX390 are necessarily built with the pressure release that yours has.View attachment 711215
Rotate the black knob, circled, on your machine to lower the pressure out put.
Hold wand trigger open with left hand and pull starter rope with right hand.
After starting rotate black knob to desired pressure.
My washer has same engine.
This how I start it.
Good luck.
Oh....but didn't they claim the problem was operator error? And now, a word from our sponsor... Howdy and this is the latest on my Honda Motor saga.
It is Wednesday evening. Monday I took it back to Pape' and said It doesn't work. Fix it fix it fix it and if you can't deal with warranty issues I don't care. Fix it. I spoke with one of the shop service guys and THE lead small engine and mower mechanic... again. They heard my dissatisfaction with their diagnosis. I was polite and firm.
After dropping it off I phoned both the Northern Tool and Honda representatives I have been corresponding with. I told them both about the process I was going through and that I felt it prudent to keep them informed of what was going on. It is important to be civil and keep records of all conversations and interactions. That was my intention to keep that channel open.
Today there was a message left on my phones from the mechanic who said the cam shaft is faulty and the whole problem will be resolved with Honda Warranty completely on board for it. I did not hear any type of apology for a misdiagnosis.I will get details maybe tomorrow when I return the call. After I get more details I will again contact the two aforementioned reps via phone and inform them.
At this point it seems my motor will be repaired or replaced and expenses not including my headaches and travel time will be covered. stay tuned.
Ah yes....the cam normally has the decompression mechanism attached to it.....see post #10.Today there was a message left on my phones from the mechanic who said the cam shaft is faulty and the whole problem will be resolved with Honda Warranty completely on board for it.

I thougtof making something that attaches to the sprayer to hold the handle in the on position while cranking the engine overwhile starting. Might make starting a mite easier.I found that if I hold down on the wand trigger and let all the air out of the water hose and spray hose it starts easily.
That may not be a good idea. The pressure from the spray wand it pretty huge, the wand may take on a life of it's own after the engine starts.I thougtof making something that attaches to the sprayer to hold the handle in the on position while cranking the engine overwhile starting.
