I thougtof making something that attaches to the sprayer to hold the handle in the on position while cranking the engine overwhile starting. Might make starting a mite easier.
Make? It’s called my wife….

But Wait, there's more..... As the world turns so does the supply chain. I've been at this warranty problem with the Honda 13hp motor now for how long? As of today, I have been able to obtain a ten percent refund from Northern Tool. I phoned them again yesterday and they offered that, I took it.

They said the Honda motor issue is really out of their hands and they are sorry about the debacle. I haven't been able to speak with the Honda rep in Michigan because he has the week off. But today, I spoke with an associate of his, two desks over.

I told him that as of yesterday, Pape said they are hoping to receive the part(s) but they, have been told the components are backordered and no ETA. I said, Why can't you tell Honda to send a new engine instead and they said it doesn't work like that.

So, back to the Honda rep in Michigan this morning....And the gent told me that like it or not, the whole supply chain of everything is in a snafu and it is out of his hands. He said call back in two weeks if nothing changes on my end. I said I am being hung to dry and he agreed, sadly enumerating the vast backlog of everything in Michigan, from incomplete autos and trucks to lawnmowers and every thing else in-between. That's where it all stands for now.

if you seriously can't start it, take off the recoil starter, find what size socket fits the flywheel, get and extension and either an air or electric impact wrench, and use that as a poor man electric start.
DO NOT DO THIS WITH IMPACT TOOLS. Youll wring something off. Use a drill to spin the engine.

My backorder timeline for mower parts has been running 6-12 months

In closing...... Rocktober update.. Thursday the 21st they phoned and said come get it, repairs complete. Yesterday, Friday I picked it up a and asked to see the compression release mechanism that they removed and replaced. Nobody could see a problem with it there but "to keep the customer happy" it was replaced.

I fired up the machine today, Saturday the 23rd and it ran just like you would want it to. It is a very powerful pressure washer. The pressure adjustment knob is bit difficult to tighten all the way up, ie to reach maximum pressure. Not for weak hands. But this sucker does a great job on dirty exposed aggregate that has accumulated funk from being shaded most of the time.

Those following this thread will note it has taken two months. Honda picked up the tab on the primary visit and the complete dismantling and rebuild. This finally makes me a happy camper. I pat myself on the back for trying to maintain a cool tool when I contacted Northern Tool and Honda. I stayed in touch through out the whole time. I didn't want this deal to go sour for me. And Monday I will phone the two company representatives and thank them. I'm not gonna whine about travel time and inconvenience. Photo taken on shop apron, not the exposed aggregate walkways.

Good to hear and glad Northern offered accommodation.

Bought many things over the years and positive experience until about 20 months ago when I stopped due to the combination of promotion not being able to use and items with delivery dates that kept getting pushed backed...

Why not say we have no idea and holding a significant (hundreds of dollars) of promo cash until item shipped made it worthless...

About 9 weeks past delivery time I called to cancel and was told it shipped that day... So I had to pay to ship/forward it to 800 miles away... as the intended was no longer in California...

Today needed a furnace blower motor and parts could not promise a date but said running about 6 weeks and said I should tell customer 6 weeks...

The new reality...

Home Depot has a compact basic plug in unit I use for all around cleaning...

It is no where as powerful as my gas unit but I find 3000+ psi isn't beneficial for tractor cleaning...

I have one of Northern's smaller gas pressure washers and water won't flow thru the pump. When I hook up the hose and turn the water on, shouldn't the water dribble out the pressure end if the pressure hose is not hooked up? The engine starts and runs fine, but because it's not pumping water I don't let it run for very long. I also have one of Walmart's electric pressure washers and that's what it does. The trigger in the wand controls the spray and the hose is always pressurized.
