I have the deck frame completely finished and painted. 10-14-20 Brady's Deck Frame Finished.jpg10-14-20 Brady's Deck Frame Corner.jpg Since this is a tractor forum, I included a tractor photo.
I will start later this afternoon decking it. First, I need to go help my neighbor paint two sides of her house.

One of the first things I noticed about retirement is my energy toward helping others. I've always got a to-do list here at home. But I often go help others. I get more out of it than they do. :)

Richard,
You are so right about that.

A good blind fix for a door when the style seperates from the rail is to pre drill the style [verticle member] and run a ledger lock into the rail [horizontal member] . Then plug the hole with a wood dowel . You will never know its there. Works on old doors , windows anything that has that kind of const. Most contractors don, tfix anything any more they just replace. Bindi you need a jointer to straighten warped and twisted lumber not a planer. Google it they can explain the process alot better than me . Besides my carpul tunnel is killing me already and I cant spell for sh%&.:drink:

Spitter,
Bindi is Steve Erwin's daughter. I am Brandi.;)

My planer planes Red Oak and Yellow Pine flat. I guess the Hickory was twisted just right. Don't think I will be buying a 20 inch wide joiner.
Please explain these terms..............style, rail, ledger lock to me. I take it style and rail are the door parts and ledger lock is a rod that pulls the door together. My plan is tongue and groove on the "rails" and top and bottom "styles". Then long wood screws and glue. I have seen it done to a front door in Tennessee and added it to my bucket list.

Sorry about name:banghead: I was try to spell ,write your thread name Bindian . Any way I did explain the terms Style [a verticle member of a door or window ] Rail [a horizontal member of a door or window ] I just suck at getting my point accross.:confused3: Head locks , ledger locks are Simson fastners name for screws that range from 21/2 to 6 " that take the place of 3/8 lag bolts . Best invention since sliced bread. Wagtail { hope i spelled that one rite ] :D I was talking about the process of trueing lumber on a jointer plane to remove any warps or twists. Sorry for confusion I can build anything, but I can't spell or type .:drink:

No worries Cobber... I Googled "jointer" (known here in Aus as a 'planer').

 There is an endless list of words that you use that I use a different word for the same thing. CHUX = J-Cloth, butterfly-nut = wingnut, Biro = pen, etc... All part of the fun and learning experience of being on an international website.

(Oh, and I too have accidentally called Brandi 'Bindi')

My vocabulary has expanded greatly from visiting with my Aussie friends here on TBN.

That is okay Pitter. Simson fastners. Those are like the fasteners I plan on using. Can't remember the name, but I got it wrote down somewhere.

Which Blairtown do you live in or near?
