Friday afternoon I took Fritz to the Vet for a checkout. One more in 3 weeks.
I did get the waterpump out and pumped the island pond water into the small pond to fill it.
Then I drug the 48 inch CAT cleanout bucket into the barn.
I got the 48 inch bucket on around 8pm. Then the grease oring seal on both sides of the bucket broke and flew off. The only way to install them (that I could see) was to roll them over the fitting where it is champfered on the edge. I thought they would be okay after only being a few months installed on the 28 inch bucket. I kept working thinking I would keep the bucket pivots out of the water and dirt until I could replace the orings. That is when I found that the bucket's pin retaining bolt holes were 1/2 inch. On the 28 inch bucket the bolts were 5/8ths inch. This includes the pin holes for the bolt. By then it was 9pm, so I called it a night. So I went inside, thinking Mustang CAT was closed on Saturdays.
After cleaning up, I got online and searched for the oring part numbers. Lo and behold, the Mustang CAT parts depart. in H town was open to noon on Saturdays.............and had 4 in stock! I picked up all 4.
Then I removed the 48 inch bucket and enlarged the pin retainer bolt holes on the bucket. I was ready to dig at 3pm.
Then I got it out to the pond in position, and parked the dumptruck behind it. I filled the truck and it would not move. I thought it was a bad clutch or the 9 speed Roadranger tranny going out. So I dumped right were it sit....then moved it to smoother ground and reloaded with the Mahindra. Still nothing. So I retired the truck and just dumped into a huge pile to be moved one bucket at a time with the Mahindra. I did that till dark.
These photos show how little shoreline I moved back and the huge spoils pile. The ducks were always curious and I blew the horns on the Mahindra and CAT a lot at them to get out of the way. I even had to blow the air horn on the Ford numerous times to get them to move.
Sunday morning I gave the dumptruck another try........by only putting 4 loader Mahindra buckets in. The truck moved, but labored. Then I monkeyed with the low/high shifter on the 9 speed. It was then I realized the thing was stuck in high, but the lever was in low. Go figure. Then I started moving dirt with 2/3ths full loads. Remember it in a 1992 Ford and over 350,000 miles.................with wet, water leaking clay. The stuff is heavy. No problems with eight each, 48 inch buckets loaded. Photos show the shorline cleanout widening and moving uphill.

Next time I will try 10 bucket loads.
hugs, Brandi
