My Pond Project

WOW, the ponds looks amazing. I don't know why, but I didn't expect the water to be so high. It looks really good. I love how the grass is all grown in and the tree on the island looks like it belongs there. In fact, you did a great job of digging it so it looks natural.

I'm still looking forward to the bridge. The concrete piers looks like they are good and solid, so I bet it's just a quick job of buying the material and finding the time to build it.

Thanks for the update and the new pics. I enjoyed looking at them.

I'm amazed that you're making ponds.... at this point I'm overwhelmed just moving dirt and rocks. You have got me thinking..... I have a seasonal creek that flows to the river across the street with run off from the woods and springs. Its active in the winter and dried up now. Still damp. My field would make a great pond. I'd be happy with a small one the size of a swimming pool. I garden and would put in water plants and some sort of fountain:).

Here are some pictures from spring 2011.

There has been a LOT of rain, and the ponds are about 1ft higher than last spring.

I'm in the process of installing an aeration windmill, and no Eddie, I have not started on the bridge yet ;) Hopefully I find the time to do that this year. In the pic's, you will see my method used to cut the grass on the island :)

Your ponds look amazing. With the grass all cut, it's like a golf course. What I like the best is that it looks natural, and like it's always been there!!!!

Congratulations on doing such a fantastic job of designing and finishing it.

'cringe'

Yeah, that's one thing about it I don't like. I need to do some more landscaping to make it look a bit more natural/wild/rustic, etc.

In due time...

Hopefully in 15-20 years it will look just the way I want :)

Nice set of pics. I like how it's all greened up and natural looking.

Have you started on the house yet?

Have not started on the house, trying to save $$ for that, but so many other projects keep getting in the way ;)

Yep, that happens to me all the time too!!!

Are you seeing the wildlife and Mother Nature take over the ponds? I'm always amazed when I discover something new at mine, or what makes it's home in there.

Oh yeah.

Just last Tuesday saw my first big snapping turtle making it's way towards the pond. Shell was about 16-18" in diameter.
