Mr kylemorley wrote in Yestrday' Tractor:

"I dream of some self centering quick hitch that would allow simply backing up to the implement and instantly hitching all three points, and disconnect with a single pull of a lever. I gather they do exist, but would cost more that the tractor".

I agree that. The price should be hundreds not thousands !!

I myself tried to go two ways:

a) first QH UNIVERSAL QUICK HITCH FOR TRACTORS - YouTube

b) secondly with lower link couplers and manual stabilizer bars, all adjusted from cabin.

Want more talk of fast 3-point hitching

Markus[/QUOTE

My next trial was to make lower links with quick couplers . Like Pad's or Walterscheid
To move the lower link from cabin I made this kind of stabilizer bar and lever to leveling bar.

Lower handle opens stabilizer bar and moving upper handle left-right
moves lower link right-left to proper place for hitching.

Here the yellow handle is for opening/closing the coupler.
My couplers are home made but works ok.

As I get older, it gets tougher to manhandle stuff.

I put my implements on dollies and that helps a lot, but then I have to store them on the cement floor of the garage. Even small stones or pieces of bark make it difficult to roll the cheap dollies I use, so I use a blower and broom to keep the floor clear. If I had the skill, I would modify my old and odd 3PH implements so a QH would work. Adding a bunch of other stuff is just too costly for a hobby user like myself but I admire the engineering skill you have.

I might be better served to sell what I have and buy QH compatible implements. I could use a better rear blade anyway.

I see hydraulic QH is not hot.

UNIVERSAL QUICK HITCH FOR TRACTORS - YouTube

THANKS EVERYBODY

OK. Lets go on

You may like more EURO style quick couplers to lower links and to top link?

They are simple and cheap and do not need much hydraulic.

But there are some faults that I do not like.
a)They need guidance for lower links.
b)They have ropes for couplers. These are often broken or absent.
c Hydraulic top link is heavy
So people operates at the back of tractor.

I wanted working from cabin.
Lets try something new.

My NEW Weld on Euro Hooks and Balls

Weld on hooks and balls - YouTube

Markus

Great job! Much simpler and easy to use. Also doesn't extend further than it needs to, like the previous quick hitch.

I've found out that most cat 1 implements, don't have quite enough weight to push the latch on the lower hooks. I have to open the latch first, otherwise it will just lift the implement, instead of locking it in place.

Thank You ptsg replying!

I have no problem with the lower hook latches, witch are automatic.
If needed they can be opened from cabin as we see in the video.
All adjustments are made here from cabin.

That might work for smaller tractors but there's no way for me to reach that far down or back on my tractors. My 3-point QH works just fine. I'm adding hydraulics to it while I'm working on other parts of the Ford 3910. The only reason I leave the seat now is to connect a PTO shaft. No shaft, I connect and go. The bottom latches on my QH are spring loaded so the release levers are down already. Backing up to the implement pushes the latches in and the pins drop into the lower hooks as the top hook grabs the upper pin during a lift. The latches spring back out to lock the lower pins in place. That has always worked well for me. The toughest job now is squaring up to an implement. ;)

The addition of the top hydraulic cylinder will not only let me adjust the pitch of implements but also the position of the top hook for various implements that don't sit on the ground the same as others. I've always had to adjust my top link length between my flail mower and rotary mower because of the way they sit. The same occurs with the cultivator, harrow or plow then going back to a mower. My mix of implement brands are all different.

I suppose I could add "stand-legs" to some of them. That would just mean I'd have to get off the tractor to set the leg(s) down. Or build separate "cradles" for everything.

Thank You Tinhack and ovrszd

Lift arm hooks and balls are most used for Medium and Big Tractors in Europa.
Hook latches are used by ropes hanging on lift arms and so easy breaking.
So many takes ropes of and go out from cabin for hitching.
Therefore I made lower hooks with rods and lever that can be reached from drivers seat.

You can steer both lift arms with hooks to balls of implement by hydraulic stabilizer arms. Or mechanical as I had in my Post before

Top link can be with lever like in my video or by rope for biggest tractors. Both work well.

Very nice problem solving and fabrication work.
I believe you can find a very lucrative market for this!
Definatley better than the JD hitch assist.
How many double acting spool valves does this setup use?
It would be awesome to see this setup be viable for a cab tractor and not just an open station platform. Any thoughts on that? Maybe using electric solenoids to control the hydraulics?
Keep up the good work, you just might be the one to revolutionalize the next big thing with quick hitches.

Thanks homesteader13

I have 4 spool valves for my 3-point hitch (and 3 more for all implements + 2 for the loader)
1 for the hydraulic top link
1 for the hydraulic leveling bar
and 2 for 2 hydraulic stabilizer bars

If all your implements have lower pins in the same distance and you use pin and hole stabilizer bars,
then you need only two valves, one for the hydraulic top link and another for the hydraulic leveling bar.
How to reach the levers? For small and medium tractors it is OK.
For bigger tractors we can use rope for the top link by open back window
With this blue rope we can guide the top link to top pin and both close and open its latch.
The pulling spring in the picture makes it easy to guide the top link.

IMG_20200927_170623.jpg

I made my own lever system for opening and locking the top link latch because
the rope was hanging there and opening sometimes.
Long green lever opens both lift arm latches at the same time.
For biggest tractors it is possible to guide the top link as you write
with electric or hydraulic actuators and use solenoid for the latch of top link.

We can adjust the top link for BIG and LARGEST tractors from the CABIN by this mechanics too.
I have only this patent picture.

I only want to save lives of users of tractors.
In Sweden 1000 accidents only in one year recently.

Euro hooks are flexible and can be used from the cabin.
In Europa they use these by ropes .
Ropes are often broken at lower links. So driver has to go down to operate them.
Therefore I tried to to make more safe-
We need to go out of tractor only for PTO-shaft and hydraulic hoses

My next trial is to make Euro hooks for big tractors. And I use them from the cabin.
Not difficult but much to measure. Tractor was working hole time at field.
I drive 3 km to my outdoor smithy for welding and back about 10 times.

John Deere is ready now to be operated from its cabin for hitching/unhitching.

Before I made a linkage to open both hook latches together from the cabin for unhitching.

Now I have a new linkage to move the right lower link sideways from the cabin.
It makes possible to use two category equipment with the same tractor.
And non standard equipment too.

IMG_20201211_111128.jpg
Parts are quit simply
IMG_20201210_201122.jpg

And now it has a new hydraulic top link too.

I think that this is the most cheep way to operate from the cabin.
If you like then hydraulic stabilizer bars are good too but expensive.
I have made what I can. Now you must go on!
Good luck to you

There is a new lever and linkage for the right spring loaded stabilizer bar and the lower link.

Makes me wonder if TBN could be the catalyst for developing a world wide standard for 3PH quick hitches.

Hope it's not like that. There must be over $2k in hydraulics for the hitch alone. My $90 HF QH is looking better all the time. ;)

What could be added to a QH to make it easily and quickly adaptable/adjustable to any 3PH implement?
