Ritchie Bros had their Houston auction last week and I picked up a single cylinder 66" root grapple, a set of forks, a stump bucket, and a SS mount plate (for some future undetermined project) via the timed online auction.
I'm pretty sure I'll have to convert the grapple to 48 inches (meaning chop off the outside bottom tines) to be able to use it effectively on my little LS S3010. But first things first, I need to get the SCV installed to play around with it as it is.
As for Ritchie Bros, I wasn't even sure I wanted to try it. Clearly you are often bidding against implement dealers acquiring their inventory. Turned out to be no big deal as the timed auctions are a lot like ebay except that similar things (i.e., SS attachments in this case) are auctioned at 30 sec. intervals. If someone out bids you on one item you can likely try again on the next.
They do kind of burn you on the 10% auction fee for purchases less than $2500 + 2% internet fee. So it means the grapple cost me about $600 in the end. Not bad considering the prices I've seen on the internet. Also, watch out for the 3% credit card fee. I got around that one by getting a cashier's check before heading up to pick up the gear.
