My saw is broke....

Most if not all modern 2 stroke oils have fuel stabilizer in them. I use Husky oil and it says it on the label I think the Baileys oil does to I have to look, Stihl oil would too I imagine.

Well I've had stihl mix gum up in the last year.... so I'm thinking it doesn't have much or any stabilizer in it.

Mine dont have stabilizer but it stays mixed with any ethanol and is 100% synthetic and cost the same or cheaper then the major brands per qt or gallon.

Klotz KL-200

Pure synthetic bases are blended for the perfect level of 2-stroke lubrication and performance. Klotz Clean Burn technology virtually eliminates carbon and residue buildup. Extreme film strength engineered to reduce engine component wear and build horsepower. Blends with methanol alcohol, ethanol and gasoline.

STIHL 2-cycle oils are premium quality, designed to deliver the highest levels of engine protection in todayç—´ high performance, air-cooled 2-cycle engines. They are also ideal for new low-emission 2-cycle engines. These engine oils contain a fuel stabilizer and a mixing agent (solvent) to aid in mixing with motor fuel (gasoline). STIHL oils are fully compatible with oxygenated fuels. STIHL 2-cycle engine oils are packaged in 2.6 oz., 5.2 oz., 6.4 oz., 12.8 oz., 1 gal., 5 gal., 16 gal. and 55 gal. containers to conveniently meet user fuel consumption needs.

STIHL recommends a mix ratio of 50:1 high quality (89 octane minimum) regular unleaded gasoline to STIHL engine oil.

Right from Stihl website! And fwtw I dont think gumming up is the characteristic the stabilizer is designed to prevent but I may be wrong.

Stabil prevents gum up. My stihl 2 stroke mix does not. Results may vary at your place. :0)

I dump my old mix in lawnmowers, truck and gas tractor. Start with fresh IMHO.

I didn't think you could add 2cycle mix to something that takes regular gas? I have always dumped it out and burned it when it was real old. So you are saying I could dump that in my log Splitter etc.??

I have ran 2 stroke mix through my generator also and I have never had any problems in anything. Why not a log splitter, if I had one it would get my old mix, why waste it at $4 a gallon.
I even mix at 32:1 which will be more oil in mix then most of you guys here.

It does get used a good bit but it might sit for a month or two over the winter, gas is from last year also mixed with all stihl products. I always run super in my saws etc. I guess I should add some stabil to my cans.... I just dropped it off to have them go over it anyway, the saw has never been serviced in the 10 years I have had it. I has always been kinda hard to start the last few years when cold. So as of right now my new little saw wont be here until next week and the big saw is 10/12 days out... So now I am sawless...:( I am going to stop at home depot and get some wood blades for the sawzall so I can at least trim limbs off the logs in the meantime...

I have the same saw - a 2010 model MS361. Always takes 3 or 4 tugs when cold, compression release activated. Once it's warm it fires on the first pull. Let it cool off and it's back to tug, tug tug, pop! What a great saw, though. With a 20 in bar it's nicely balanced and I can swing that thing all day.

Don't forget to tell us how you make out when you get it back from the shop ...

I have a Stihl MS361 that I fired up yesterday or should I say when I tried to fire it up... I replaced the plug and got it started but it is popping, banging, stalling. I can get it running for a bit then it shuts down. I can restart it right away then its the same thing again. I am just going to take it in for service to be fixed hopefully its not to expensive..... I do have a new Stihl limbing saw on order, can't remember which model but it is the same saw they use up in the trees but with a handle on the back, weighs around 7 pounds.... Hopefully it will be here soon!!

Was the gas/oil mix in the saw new or was it left over from last season? If leftover, I would have dumped it and fillled with fresh mix.
