30 years is awesome! If the water heater isn't close to sleeping areas, you might consider a heat pump water heater. They can be very efficient.

I had one and it was good when it worked, but HP failed twice so I ran it awhile electric only, but it started leaking and had rusted real bad where elements screw in. I would not recommend.

I would install solar in a heartbeat if it wasn’t for all the paperwork and permits.
