Yes, you can have your layers with the blankets pulled over the eyes. It suits you too.

I apologize for not reading the entire thread, but could the OP's thief have taken the patio set by accident? The reason I ask is that around here, anything by the road is considered free unless it has a sign with a price. Unwritten rule, but stuff will move fast! I've intentionally left out old appliances, furniture, crappy firewood, lawn mowers, and bicycles. All taken within 24hrs and never had people take anything else.
Also should have tossed the broken spark plug against the windows...LOL - Obviously you are nobody to F with. That free fuel was the most expensive fuel that feller ever got.![]()

Excellent post. One great way not becoming a victim is to look as if you are so poor like dirt.I understand the concern on theft. I understand the need to protect your property and family along with ourselves. Can it be taken too far, of course. Can it be taken too lightly, of course. Take a few minutes and watch porch pirates on youtube. Downright dumb, brazen, drug addict, the list goes on and on. Those are in high population areas with cameras and eyes all over the rural areas. We have begun with signage and moving on to gates and cabling on some of our land. Some there really is no reasonable way to protect it but there is nothing there to steal.
My first recommendation is to be sure you don't do something that is illegal but also don't overdo it. We have a new neighbor who bought a few acres beside us. It is mostly wooded and has cleared area for his business shop and for a house. Has business shop built and installed a very impressive gate. Sadly, to me the gate he installed speaks of money behind it, night custom gate about six feet tall. On the fence on either side..none. You can walk around it. You can drive atv around it. All the while the gate looks like it is protecting a high price house. I think he now has created a place that will attract attention where a simple cattle gate would have stopped traffic as well and not made people wonder what is so special behind it.
You put an old patio set out by the road and expect someone not to think it was free?We had it out by the road so we could sit and watch the kids when they’re playing on the driveway

Caltrops.Dogs, camera's and Gun's, no better deterrent. We live on a State Highway with the houses back about 1000' from the highway. My neighbor to the west of me and my driveway are about 100' apart with barbed wire fence along the highway. These Mfer's will pull in my driveway and cross the grass to his driveway to turn around. By the time I get down there they are long gone. I would really like to find where they live and drive through their yard.
