My first Mig, a Lincoln weld pak 100 just had a dial for wire speed with a 1 through 10 and a rotary switch for power with images of steel thickness next to each position labeled A through D. It didn't bother me too much as the price was right. Before that I was brazing for sheet metal repairs so the little Weld Pak was a nice upgrade.
Everlast has numbers like that as well. Not a big issue for most people. Name brands are no different in this size/class welder.
