+2 on this. JD this will also take the whole WiFi situation out of the hands of your provider Frontier and place control of your network in your hands. All of that for $45. Plus you get some gigabit ports to put your server computers on.

And a USB port to share a printer or a hard drive with everyone else on the network.

Be careful with sharing a hard drive off the router USB port. A coworker did and there was/is a security bug in the router that allowed a hacker to read the drive....

There was confidential info on the drive and the coworker's identity was stolen...

If your ISP is throttling your BW, it's probably not done at your houses wifi router.

I agree. They will be doing it with the server that connects you to the ISP.

True, but what he was describing sounds like a flakey wireless connection rather than throttling.

Good point.

I would recommend getting a separate device to handle your wireless needs. I have and highly recommend the Amazon.com: TP-LINK TL-WR1043ND V2 Wireless N300 Gigabit Router, 300Mbps, USB port for Storage, 3 Detachable Antennas, Speed Boost up to 450Mbps, WPS Button: Electronics
$45 on Amazon and its a excellent piece of equipment.
Then you can call Frontier, ask them how to set your router to "Bridge Mode" and you will be good to go.

Appreciate your input and advice....but if I do call Frontier about ANYTHING, they put me on hold intentionally...last time was 48 minutes. I have spent so much time trying to correct their pi** poor service they KNOW I am going to bail when the contract I am stuck with is up...so their method of dealing with my issues is NOT to respond or do anything. That is what happens when a provider locks you into a contract.

Post the modem make/model and we can probably round up a step by step guide for putting it into bridge mode.

If it's a combined modem / router, then yes, put it in bridge and use your own router.
