Well everyone, I took delivery of my new tractor yesterday. Just in time as 2 feet of snow fell the night before, and I couldn't get the cars out of the driveway. The tractor came off the flatbed trailer out in the street and I went right to work clearing snow.
I listened to what you all had to say and made the decision to go with a Legacy XL 4x4. I love it. Easy, intuitive controls, plenty of power (27HP Kawasaki gas), low slung, 60" floating mower deck (which I absolutely wanted, not the fixed height style), great dealer service from past experience, competitive pricing and finance. I really thought I would end up with a green or orange tractor, but that is how it went. In the end it was just the perfect tractor for my property, and for my wife to handle when I am away. Thank you all on your generous info, and I will give a report on how it mows in the spring. Needless to say....the 2 feet of snow was easy work. No chains or wheel weights were needed...this machine is a brute. You may or may not get a sense of the slope of the property...but trust my, it's there.
I will try to attach photos now
