I'd give about 10 to 1 odds that if you find the car you will find the thief. Professionals steal cars to commit crimes (I had one stolen that was used in burglaries) but this guy doesn't sound like a professional to me. Someone doing smash and grab on lawn tools probably couldn't hot wire a car if his life depended on it.

Sorry, that car has been left somewhere, they use them for a day or 2 and ditch them.After this incident I bet he ditched it within the hour...even a dumby knows to unload the car he just drug a store owner down the road with.

The thief has a name, Joshua Ellis. He was nabbed by the WV troopers today and is in jail. He waived his right to remain silent, admitted to the thievery and apologized for injuring Mr. Conner. He indicated the new equipment was traded to a drug dealer directly in exchange for heroin.

I note that the updated report says that the thiefs license plate was reported from another theft and the police went to his house and arrested him. As I said earlier, these kind of criminals are not smart enough/skilled enough to steal cars. If all the property crimes were committed by professionals who use stolen cars, there wouldn't be any cars left on the road.

The VT in the title line indicates VT, the state, not Ventrac. Maybe the OP could correct this, to reduce confusion.
Sorry to hear about the store owner, and the idiot who did the robbery.
A Stihl dealer here in VT was hit once, then put in CCTV, and they, same guys, drove into the front doors and stole $10,000 worth of chain saws and concrete cutting saws. They had license plates, etc., but police did nothing because the registered truck owner wouldn't press charges/be involved.
ALL these idiots need the chair! Any low skill electricians available to wire 'sparky'?
