First of all I want to thank Winston1; as he has been an on-going help to me. It has almost been five months since he orginally gave me the idea of what might be wrong with my 4wd. Since then he has answerd a few more of my questions.
Also I said I would post pictures if I went any further on the project. I know it has been a while but I have been very busy and have not had the ability to bare with the down time of not having this tractor.
The first thing I did was remove the drive shaft and dropbox (as described by winston1) The driveshaft cover was held on by one bolt up front and two bolts in the mid section of the tractor. When the shield was moved to the center of the tractor there was a cotter pin, spring, washer combo; that holds the shaft on the front gear box. Remove this first before removing the drop box. The drop box was held on by six bolts in the rear.
Here is the driveshaft I removed
This is a shot of the front gearbox where the driveshaft connected. Be careful here there are six bearings that come out of this connection. I show what those look like later.
This is where the gearbox was dropped from.
This is a shot of the dropbox that has been removed. Check out those missing teeth.
This is a better shot of the missing teeth.
This is just another view of the dropbox; a top view.
After removing the box I started to disassemble the gearbox and will get more into that later. I have been having trouble removing the inner shaft. Once I figure out how this is done I will post some pictures.
