My YM2200 Axle Seal Replacement W/Pictures

Oh no !! It looks like the ym2500 we bought is set up just like that also.I never would have guessed it to be set up that much different and you couldn't just pull the hub. Now I know why the Rear looked as if it had been totaly disassembled on the Refurbishment Process.Now I'm glad the seals and gaskets appeared all replaced. But then again that is the only thing I don't care for is the setup of the PTO gears either.That is another reason I'm keeping and prefer the ym2000.:thumbsup:

I just seen this local.YM2200 for 5300.00 no ROP's in the Photo. I can get a YM2000 for 4500.00 with ROP'S. Boy the dealer sure is proud of that 2hp. I also would take the ROP's instead of the power steering anyday :ashamed: Crazy

Went back to look for sure YES! PS. In upper case. It doesn't even have a FEL on IT.:confused2:

As a service to other YM2200 owners I took photographs of the whole process and created a nifty cross-sectional drawing of the axle housings.

The bearings are an interference fit on the axle and the bearing fit in the housing is an interference fit. As a result you will need a press to press the assembly apart and you will need to press it all back together after the seal is installed.

That is some great write-up. Not sure if I would ever need it, but I bet 100% someone will need it in a dire need. As I went through the how-to, at first I thought, that trans-axle set of gears looks nice and clean. Then near the bottom you had really made them clean.

Nice touch showing where to put the grease and the hint on the dog-gears.
