I just ordered a 5100M Friday it is June 1st. I wait till the new cab was available and just did.
I don't know why the are out so far. Does anyone know about the new tier 4 engines are they going to ok or just a pain. The corner muffler look great.

Glad too hear you got a few extra bucks, was a really nice tractor
Thanks. Was sad to let it go. Here's the last picture I took of it, all loaded up on the trailer with the stump grinder, grapple, ballast box, weights, pallet forks and 2 buckets.

Trip was 266 miles in heavy rain and some good inclines. Made it there in one piece. Picked up a Woods RB850 heavy duty blade on the way home, so all in all, a very productive trip.

Unloading the blade from the trailer without the help of pallet forks required me to improvise a bit.

That blade (about 1100lbs) was borderline what that engine hoist could manage with the boom all the way extended.

That is a nice looking blade:thumbsup:

Does it have the hydraulic angle though? From the looks it only has the offset and tilt:confused:

You are correct, but I'll be adding hydraulic angle.

Here are a few more pics after I removed the hydraulics and power washed it.

I basically just need to replace that round top plate with the 3 bolts with a plate that has an arm that the angle cylinder connects to.

Circled in red is the bracket for the angle cylinder clevis.

There is a warning label that states that warranty is void if used with a tractor with more than 100HP and a weight of more than 10,000 lbs. So I don't think I'll be able to break it with my new 5085M. :D

Con-grads ,,,,,, We just picked up a 5075M 2011 about 3 weeks ago,,,,,, deluxe open station,,,,,here on the Oregon coast there are a lot of low limbs and the sap or as most of us call it,,the pitch is extremely difficult to remove from glass windows with out lacquer thinner or something of great strength.
I have been eying the woods RB series about a 9 foot blade for getting over the edge of drive ways better.
Way nice unit you are getting, smiles to you and patience to your family because you will be chewing at the bit during the last month.

Just wanted to say congrats for the new purchase

Between you, akfish, and a couple others, you guys are making me want an M series now

I originally thought my next tractor would be either a 4720 cab, or L5740 cab, but now I'm thinking of going up to the 5065M Cab.

What made you upgrade to the next bigger size? I find myself struggling with FEL lift capacty, 3pt hitch lift capacity, and the overall 'delicate' feeling I get when working the tractor hard.

Can't wait to see pics once you get it!

Yeah, the wait is going to kill me, especially come spring when everything starts growing again. I can already see me calling my dealer daily asking "is it here yet?" once it gets close :D

Piston, the reasons I decided to upgrade are as follows:

FEL lift/breakout capacity
Ability to run a 3pt 9' 2 spindle cutter (I hope)
Ability to pull a 16-3 plow
Ability to pull 8' disc harrow (the 4700 could do it, but not very well)
Cab w/ buddy seat

That is a great package the way you set it up. Hope you can endure the wait. Congratulations:thumbsup:

Really like your dog too, I had a wonderful German Shepherd as a kid, really miss that dog.

Those two things are major factors for me as well. If you guys with the new M's start posting a lot of pics when you get it, I have a feeling it's gonna get the best of me

The more I looked at the 4720 cab with the hydraulic options and everything I wanted - the price just got to be too close to the 5083 Limited. So... that was where I was leaning - until I did a bit more research into the E/H hitch and transmission and transaxle.

Then it looked like the M was maybe a better option for the "long haul".

No regrets.

Yep, wonderful JD Marketing at work right there.... go in for a certain tractor and have you decide 2 levels up is the better tractor for the "long haul".

I'm smarter than them though.... I'm going in telling myself that a 3000 series tractor is right for haying 80 acres so I walk out with 5E instead of going in looking at 5E and walking our with biggest 5M or 6

Congrats on the new purchase! I'm sure you will love it... Someone got a nice deal on the ol' 4700!

He sure did! I still made out better than if I had traded it all in towards the new tractor. The new owner promised he would built a shed for it one day. Right now it, and all the implements are sitting out in the elements. I'm sure my feelings for the 4700 will subside once the 5085M is in my possession!

I picked up lots of implements for the 5085M today!

First I got a steal on a Woods BH1050 from a local farm (owner was selling property).

bh1050-1.jpg

And I then went to my JD dealer and picked up this trailer load of goodies:

trailerload1.jpg

Woods SG100 stump grinder and Woods LR108 rake (painted JD green of course):

trailerload2.jpg

And a used Bush Hog 3209 dual spindle cutter:

trailerload3.jpg

It was a challenge getting everything unloaded without a tractor! Here's me backing into the shop:

trailerload4.jpg

Getting the 3209 positioned with the lift:

trailerload5.jpg

Raised off the trailer:

trailerload6.jpg

Trailer pulled forward:

trailerload7.jpg

Stump grinder pallet was so heavy that my only option was to chain it up to the lift and drive the trailer forward to slide the pallet to the rear!

trailerload8.jpg

Getting ready to hook up straps to lift off the grinder:

trailerload9.jpg

That was it before the wife told me I had to come up to the house for dinner. I'll unload the grinder tomorrow.

Dealer told me he would let me borrow a 5425 2 wheel drive open station or 6405 4x4 cab until my M shows up (both have loaders). Which would you choose? Of course the 6405 is a bigger tractor with a cab and 4x4, but if I borrow that one, will the 5085M seem "small" once I get it?

Wow, LOTS of goodies on that trailer! Interesting way to get them off and that is one nice lift! And nice shop, insulated and everything:thumbsup:

Depending on what you have lined up for the 5085M would depend what I'd get. If you have lots of heavy work to do, as soon as the M gets home, why not try and knock it out with the 6405 and save the abuse on the M and leave it on it. If you don't have any major projects planned soon, get the 5425 and be awed when it gets home. The 5425 would be really close to the HP of the 5085M, just older, no 4x4, or cab, or all that other fun stuff...

Right now I mostly need to use the backhoe to dig out about 100 pine stumps 5" -15" in a ~2 acre area that I plan to plant Christmas trees in. I also need to use the backhoe to excavate for adding an extension to my shop (all these goodies are taking up too much room, plus I want to get my trailer under roof). After that, I need to plow the ~2 acre area, then disc, level, rake, etc. I'll go play with both machines before the weekend and make up my mind.

On the 5085, I decided to add the side mirrors back in, and also added the shockless accumulator to the H260 loader with a operator mounted on/off switch.

Here's a pic of the actual 5420 (sorry, not 5425 model) sitting at the dealer lot (they are asking $16.9K):

5420.jpg

And the 6405 (they're asking $30k. The hour meter is broken, they estimate 4000 hours. Maybe this is why they are offering as a loaner? Also, the date of the photo is 1/5/2011, so it has been on their lot for over a year)

6405.jpg

I think I would get that 2 wheel drive stuck in no time, I better ask for the 6405. :D

Appreciate the comments on the shop. Here's a few additional eye candy pics of it.

Opposite wall from above showing the modine unit heater (it will heat up this 48x30 shop from freezing to 60 degrees in about 15 minutes!)

bh1050-2.jpg

Another shot showing the newly installed IR T30 7.5HP 25 cfm compressor. I had been using a Craftsman oil less one for the previous 15 years and it was running non-stop when really using air. The IR will come on for like 30 seconds at a time, even when sandblasting. I don't think I'll ever outgrow it!

bh1050-3.jpg

Btw, I can't wait to put that hoe to some use! Don't worry about all that hydraulic fluid on the floor. When the farmer disconnected the hoe from his tractor, his 3pt started lifting and pulled off the low pressure hose from the tank. Will pick up some pellets tomorrow to clean up the mess.

Three point back hoes have broken the backs of many tractors. I would be looking for a way to mount with a sub frame with all the usage you have outlined.

will you please post a pic of how your angle cylinder is going to be put on, I have a blade very similar that I want to do that too.
