What a miserable pathetic loser you are, to sit at a computer all day trolling tractor forums to post thousands of sarcastic comments day after day. If my life becomes that pathetic, I hope someone will put out me out of my misery.
calm down.

There was some sort of option that would bolt up right there. If oil is leaking out of it then likely there would be a crack, but I'd guess there is oil that got into there from the outside as there is enough of it on the block itself, the heat is probably higher in that hole than on the outside and it warms it up and it flows better and you notice a leak.
This is all speculation and guess, but find a bolt, thread it in there, and likely never have oil seeping out again.
I went by the dealer and the parts diagram shows the holes, but they had no clue as to a purpose. The parts list has a 1/2 inch plug listed, but does not indicate where it goes. Logic dictates it must fit in those holes! I guess that in a multi-purpose like that, they serve some purpose, just not in MF tractor,

Glad you take constructive criticism so well. I bet you were a hoot in school too.

FYI, this is the ONLY tractor forum I visit and I'd never post up a picture of any of my tractors if they were that filthy. That my friend, is a direct reflection on you.

not directed at you, sorry
I know. all you had to do was click his user name and read ALL his posts to see you made an assumption.
I took his statement as a tongue in cheek thing, much like my mount a siren there.

no need to get thread locked or posts deleted from both of you over this

I don't think the tractor is all that filthy. I've had or been around many older tractors that will never leave a drop on the ground but
often have that much grime on them. When you wash it up it shows up again after a hard days work, I don't think this is an issue of how a person takes care of their old equipment.

yeah I can pressure wash neighbors 1532 and few days later after dealing with goat/chicken manure (small homeowner farm) its covered.
plus if wanting to show what looks like an oil seep no sense cleaning it off...

What is the purpose of the 2 holes beside the oil filter housing in my MF23? The bottom one seems to be weeping oil
Welcome TBN ! I'm guessing that You have a diesel engine  ? I was looking at several M-F's 230's for sale , & they all seem to have those holes as well with nothing attached ! My guess is some type of accessory , Or option was available for a earlier model M-F 230 that bolted onto the block ? Or it could be for a different type of model that used the same engine ,& those holes had a different purpose, & are just left in the block casting & machining process of the engine , & last it is quite possible that a bracket is put there for hydraulic lines to a front end loader ( fel )! I'm just guessing , But if oil is not pouring out while the engine is running then there is no concern , & further more it's just getting blown in from the front of the engine while it's running & accumulated over the years ! Just clean the engine up with a cleaner , & go from there. IMHO I don't think You have any problems there , & it has accumulated oil over the years blowing off the front of the engine. Good luck ! & let us know what You find , & if it's a gasoline or diesel engine.

I wonder if there is similar one on other side maybe hidden by something, if so these could be for lifting adapters for engine itself.
