I'm not much into hunting myself, but my cousin goes hunting around Bendigo & St Arnaud areas when he can. The hunting laws are reasonable but some of the crazy duck lovers are mad and will do anything to disrupt shooters when duck season opens every year and risking their own lives for the sake of the huge numbers of ducks which need reducing anyway. The Anti duck shooting people are just a plain nuisance especially when they deilvered some very smelly dead birds in front of our State Premiers Office last year...a disgusting site and patently mentally deranged participants.

Could be a goat. Same footprint as a deer. And there are quite a few feral goats in Australia.

it could be a swamp booger I did not think they had swam to NZ but the track is distinctive

No dont think its a goat. I had one but sent it to a pony place awhile back.. Never saw any others around. We in Australia not NZ. We dont have swamps here, although with all this rain recently, we might end up with a few swamps..lol

I see you are thinking of an MX5100, I saw one and was very impressed with the build. Similar to my my older L4350 but with larger front tires. That in itself is an improvement. Simple but a nice stout tractor, kinda like how you like your beer! :D

Weed clearing near a springView attachment 276965 Can anyone identify some of the weeds I,m removing ?

It's unlikely that it's the same plant but here we call that reed cane, or cane reed. I never really looked into it because it's not hard to control, but it might be an invasive plant here and maybe it did come from down under....dunno.
The track looks like a deer but because of the soft terrain it could be a young hog or pig, From what I know, there are no deer native to Australia, only introduced species, and these are planted for hunting.
Reed cane is a place I look for deer to bed in. So it seems like if it's a deer, there must be a farm or preserve nearby... deer farm or hunting preserve.
If it's a small pig there would be more than one track, there would be many tracks and lots of rooted up earth.

We do have deer farmers around, but I doubt any would be escaping due to their high fencing...but it is a possibility. I have not seen any on our property. Been very wet now for awhile, i'll try go look for more prints today for more opinions.
