Mrs wants to test the waters on some blacksmithing so she asked that I build her a power hammer. Instead of a power hammer, I thought I’d build her a hydraulic press instead. I was working on the frame over the weekend and had to share a picture of a weld. The thin vertical weld is the backside of a T joint. I’m really proud of the penetration that I was able to achieve.

Working on the shoe plate. The channel is 1/2” and was 12” wide. I wanted 10”. I cut the channel to length and then made two cuts lengthwise. Beveled the edges. Two passes at 300 ipm and 23 volts. The second photo is the channel welded to a 3/4” press plate.
