It's hard to find any common flower/plant and often trees etc. that doesn't have one or more regional names...

Regional nomenclature/names likely has existed in all cultures dating back to the earliest spoken languages...most can be related to or understood...Most are interesting but some can be just nonsensical...

They are called resurrection lilies around here. I guess because the way the foilage comes up then dies back to eventually be replaced by the stem and blooms. Mine have already come and gone.
Fairly hardy plants.

We have a noxious weed that was introduced to graze animals but didn't work, called Pattersons Curse or Salvation Jane depending upon the State.
