I call our 1970 home on 10 acres "The Money Pit"

We haven't officially named ours yet either, as it's only been "ours" for just about a year now. We've thought of Williams' Farm, after her grandparents who originally bought the land and built the house. However, her uncle and cousin both own adjacent land (parts of the original farm willed to them), and are both named Williams. Smith Farm would be the obvious choice for us, which is probably why we don't like it. A couple of other ideas lately have been The Rock Farm or Music Farm, the latter of which I'm most partial to at the moment, at least until something better comes along.

... and wow, a 15-year-old zombie thread.

That name, also applies to most everyone on TBN, thank goodness for roman numerals.

Money Pit XXVIII

I never knew so much could go wrong with a home. But after 3 years of living there I seriously hope I'm on the downhill side of the repairs. I cant take much more.

I don't have a name for my place but I do have a road sign at the entrance that says "Ragged *** Road", found it at a flea market a few years back.

Our little piece of property (4.5 acres) we took to calling Irish Acres as our last name is Murphy and we do have more than one acre :D We are less than 2 years in and have been raising chickens for eggs for about a year now so Irish Acres is home to Irish Acres Farm. We also have 3 senior dogs who will live out there lives there. We'll probably add a few more hens this spring, but my wife is set on acquiring a mini donkey (cause they're cute).

Dozens of folks for miles around here know our place as "the old Robinson place". Everybody seems to have memories of visiting, playing, or working down here. We don't see any reason to call it anything different except maybe just "the farm".

We did have to come up with names for the "lanes" to go in the 911 system. "Rocky Ridge Ln." for the main driveway, since the water line that runs down the middle of it had to be sawn into solid rock. And "Granny&Pa Ln." for the section that runs to the in-law's cabin.

My place is known locally as the "Old Martin homestead". Originally 360 acres - homesteaded by the Martins in 1892. Government granted homesteads to anybody who would build a permanent residence. These original land grant/homesteads were for the exploration for oil. The only oil anybody has found around this country is what has been accidentally spilled on the ground. My father purchased the last of the original homestead(80 acres) from the Martins in 1939.

We are Pink Flamingo Farm.

Before we moved to the sub-rural zone, our next door neighbor had very definite ideas about what a yard should look like--grass mowed daily, no trees, shrubs or ornaments and was not shy about sharing his ideas. Well, we did keep the lawn mowed, but we planted trees, shrubs, and flowers. Needless to say, the neighbor was not happy. So just to tweak him so more, we put out a flock of plastic pink flamingos in the front yard.

When he saw them.....I did not realize it was possible for a human being to turn that shade of purple....

Love it! Sounds just like something I would do.

Ours is the "Poor Farm."
House was built about 1790 but arround 1850 it WAS the town Poor Farm. 1850 census shows 7 families plus the caretaker family.

We are also looking for name for our place. If I need a "handle" in example for Weather Underground I call it House in Medora. But wife would like some more poetic name. We have leaky pond but I don't think it would do it. We have about 33 acres of restored prairie so Blooming Prairie or some of that sort might be considered. We have lot of wildlife such as foxes, coyotes, bobcats, turkeys, deer, pheasants, quail and many others. We might select name based on that. Wife is a green thumb so her nickname is Kytička (Tender flower) so I suggested Kyticka's Paradise or Garden but it didn't spark much enthusiasm either. We are still looking for a fitting name. Friend of mine has farm where he built a cabin named by his mom Sanity Acres. I like that one but it is taken.

The name of your property/house doesn't have to be two or three words... one will suffice.

I have friends in Willow Tree, NSW whose property is simply called "Oaklyn". When I mail something to them, that's all that I put on the address (other than the post code); Oaklyn, Willow Tree NSW (post code).

'Leeside'
It was the name of my family farm, which was split and sold years ago, it seems even more fitting for this place as it is tucked in the lee of a hill and lies to the sun.. then was searching Google Earth and discover it was named Leeside on there!! So Leeside it is. Hopefully the boys will run it as Blair Bros. too, one day, as Dad and his brother did the original one.
Always wondered why so many tourists come up the road to turn around, until I made the Google connection!

My home was built by my parent's, and they named it Marywood Farm, to honor the Virgin Mary. I've kept that name, and use it on the wine labels for our homemade wine.
Our cottage in Canada is named Bending Birch Cottage. A friend of mine made a sign to hang up there, but it is so nice that I keep it at home where I can see it more often.

FORGOTTEN ONES FARM. I can't tell you how many things I have done for everyone in my family. There isn't enough time and space here to write it all down. I never asked for anything in return I only asked to be respected, had consideration for and appreciated for what I did. I have always said I will help anyone as long as they help themselves in doing what is right. But when you see your being taken advantage of and tell them your no longer the brace that holds everything up for them then your some kind if a you know what and then the lies start and soon forgotten. I know I shouldn't have done so much and should have sat back and let them find their own way of solving their own problems and not had the hand out when they asked but always had a big heart and material things and money never meant that much to me. But the minute I said (example you need to buy a new furnace and not a four wheeler I became the you know what and forgotten all together. So hence the forgotten ones farm. Me, myself and I. A few head of cattle, chickens and a couple hogs. It's either right or wrong, black or white. No gray area in my life. It pays to be crooked and cost to be honest.
