Naming Tractors

Hmmmmmmmmmmmmmm... you got a point there. That might explain everything! Like I bought me a big-screen TV... so how come I'm watching the old 25"? I bought me a new car... so how come I'm driving the truck? I bought me a new chair... so how come I'm still read'n on the couch? Geeze... I need to learn when to keep my mouth shut! /w3tcompact/icons/crazy.gif

Thanks John. I'm gonna go home tonight and start drop'n hints about how dangerous "Nehi" can really be. /w3tcompact/icons/wink.gif

Yeah, FarmerBob, it wasn't really logical for me to never drink RC Cola after seeing the bottling plant. In fact, on Thanksgiving Day, 1969, my wife bought a 6-pack of Coca Cola (does everyone remember when they came in bottles in 6-packs?). One of them had an entire wrapper off a package of cheese crackers in it, so when we saw that, we didn't open it. I called the local Coca Cola plant and the guy there asked if they could have someone come by to see it the next afternoon. I told him I'd get home about 4:30 p.m. and they could come anytime except between 6 p.m. and 6:30 p.m. when I was watching the TV news. He knocked on the door at 6:15 p.m./w3tcompact/icons/frown.gif He explained how and why such things could never happen, but do./w3tcompact/icons/wink.gif Then he said he was supposed to bring me a "complimentary" 6-pack of Cokes, but that he was out of them today and asked if I'd like him to bring them tomorrow. He also asked if he could have the one with the wrapper in it. I told him to just forget it and I'd keep the one with the wrapper in it for a paperweight on my desk and it's still sitting here unopened today! After 31 years, you can't read the writing on the wrapper anymore; just looks like a wad of cellophane in there./w3tcompact/icons/laugh.gif/w3tcompact/icons/laugh.gif

Bird...

I used to have a couple of Pepsi bottles with "strange things" in them, but guess I tossed 'em over the years. Did you know that in some small Southern towns the Coca-Cola bottlers still offer bottled Coke in the cardboard 6-pack with the carry handle? They also sell them by the case in the wooden cases, and... the bottles are refundable! /w3tcompact/icons/smile.gif Our CEO is a real Coke nut and when we have our monthly meeting he serves us Coke in a bottle. It's so refreshing to know that all the "good ole stuff" from years past hasn't become totally extinct. /w3tcompact/icons/smile.gif

ecard,

Yes, some of us do name our tractors. My JD4100Hydro was christened "Jenny", for obvious reasons - she's sweet as maple syrup, yet still works like a mule. (A Jenny is a female mule.)

As any OLD, OLD farmer would tell you, mules were much more valuable than horses - they were smarter, stronger, could run faster, etc. A clear case of hybrid vigor.

And as any smart guy knows, a lady who likes you will do a lot more for you! /w3tcompact/icons/cool.gif

FarmerBob, I'd still rather have the old bottles (especially when they were 6 oz. bottles) than the 12 oz. cans. The bottle I was talking about that I still have is a 10 oz. I'm old enough to remember when I worked in my dad's service station, the coke machine took a nickel, and we paid $.80 for a case of 24 (plus 2 cent deposit on each bottle). Then they went to the trouble of converting all the coin operated machines to take 6 cents for just a little while before converting them again to take a dime.

Bob, I think the Moon Pies are still the same. I think most of my taste buds have died along with a few other things!
Bird, do you remember the Grapette in the little bottles and the Orange Crush in its secial shaped bottle. I remember that you could get a 6 oz Coke for a nickel and a dime Baby Ruth and "Make a meal of it"
