FWIW, Frams are upscale for me, when I make a trip to Walmart I buy a few of the Supertechs for each of my vehicles. a little over 2 bux a piece. I use cheap synthetic oil too, store brands or what is on sale. no brand loyalty for me.

I think you have it backwards. The Supertech filters are upscale from the Frams. It's even better that they're cheaper...

this subject has been beat to death in the past and will continue to be beat to death in the future. BITOG is a perfect place to see what I mean.

IMHO what most people think makes a superior filter just looks like it superior, reality is different. you push oil thru some holes and force it thru something that catches particles, thats about it. So maybe its the color and thickness of the canister or the appearance of the filter media inside that sells people on something they think is better but I've always just bought the cheapest ones I can get and say I'm good to go.

Oh but there is a difference. i use Blackstone for my UOA's and they put out a monthly newsletter every couple they will stop by the local quickie mart and pick up a quart of "brand A" oil and put the clean stuff through the tests. the results are interesting. Im sure they would share with you if you inquired. Not all oil is the same and im sure that goes for filters as well. i dont know of any official tests but there has been some hobby test done out there there used to be a good air filter test on Dieselplace.com I think.

I ran Fram with both of my pickups. I put 213k on one and 225k on the other. Changed oil every 4300 mi. avr. on my 86 and never burned enough oil to make a difference. My 96 Ford 150 6cyl I changd oil about every 6k avr. and never burned much oil. The filters must have worked cause if they didn't the engines would have been gone by then. I have a Duramax diesel now and put in a K&N air filter but hear they don't trap the dust like they should, so I got an Amsoil air filter and put them up to the light. Big difference in filters! Amsoil filters are thick and can't see much light but the K&N you can see right through after 10k mi. Not all are the same but Napa is a good filter, maybe not the best but good from what I've heard. Amsoil filters made to last 25k mi. are 15 bucks for my truck so I will stick with Amsoil.

What ever you say bud............. I think your nuthin is different than my nuthin. the tens of thousands of dollars I have invested in vehicles and equipment is alittle more than nuthin in my book so i will do what i can to get the most out of my investments.

tell ya what.... you keep doin it your way, Ill keep doin it mine and we can agree to disagree and go on about our merry little lifes.

There is definitely a difference in filter quality from one brand to the next. All of our equipment from Harvester comes through with Fleetguard everything as well as our reefer units from Carrier and TK. US Foodservice buys 1200 vehicles a year from International and we run a lot of miles with very little engine problems with these filters. Some of our reefer (Kubota and Yanmar) diesels have as much as 15000 hours without a motor failure with a good in-house PM program. This goes to prove that your Kubota or JD compact tractor with the proper mait program, syn fluids and Fleetguard ($$$) filters is not worn out at 2500 hours.
