Buying Advice Nasty Divorce Forces Tractor Sale

Ask the wife if the tractor belongs to him... or better yet, ask him for a phone number of his ex-wife, and that you'll be asking her that question. See what he says... If he's trying to pull one over on HER... you'll find that out pretty quick.

This whole things smells rotten. Guy is keeping his tractor at his friends house and is asking $4-6K less than value and will take $300 per month interest free.........

I bet anything the wife does not know about this tractor.....

I have given very good friends great deals before and even given them stuff but not $4-6k worth...

I have a meeting with the seller tomorrow. I'll keep you posted on the outcome.
Cool... Would love to hear how it works out, (Hopefully it will work well for you!)

Update:

Had a meeting with the seller yesterday. He brought the divorce agreement/property settlement which shows he does, in fact, own the tractor. I am pretty comfortable with this deal now.

Thanks again for bringing up some things I hadn't considered.

BTW, my wife has become quite good at operating this machine. Anybody else have to share "seat time?"

BTW #2. Curious ponies turned on the tractor lights yesterday. You tell me how a pony can turn a knob 4 clicks, but one of them did. Dead battery. No harm done; it's charged up and ready to go again. Guess I won't leave it unattended in the corral again.

How have you gotten away this long with out posting a photo of this "so-called tractor"? :D

I realize too late, but I'd not likely get involved in a transaction with a buddy going through a tough divorce.

Divorce is just toxic.

I'd take him out for plenty of drinks though.

Actually when my wife retired, she began helping me mow our yard, pond levies etc. with the BX2660. I haven't mowed the yard in close to two years.

Last year we got behind on bush hogging and I took our L5030 with Land Pride RCR2672 up to another farm where she ran the 5030 while I ran the M8540 with Woods DS1260. I will teach her to operate the 8540 if we ever catch up long term.

I wouldn't get too concerned till you hear the tractor running at night, then look out the window to find the ponies driving it around the corral. They will need to start working part time to pay for their share of the fuel !

Yep, this is the way it started out when we both retired, ie, sharing seat time. She now has her very own JD 4320 open station to help maintain this old farm. Lately, she's showing a lot of interest in learning how to run the Kubota M110X DTC cab tractor.

Glad things worked out well for you. Good luck with your new tractor.
