For a 1st year run the XUV"S have been problem free.
The brake squeaking problem was caused by the dealers not prepping the vehicles properly.
Mechanically they are very sound.

What problems are you talking about?

i'm talking about the front end rattling the fron end diferentials not being set right like the other guy posted. the rear end making noises . sure they are built tough but the first year out they are gonna have problems. i don't see how you can say they have been problem free. when some folks have returned thiers and others have complained of the noises . i even went and drove one and heard the noise.i'll give them a year and they will work it out i have faith in the john deere company.

I can only speak from my own experience. My emergency brake had a rattle and I fixed it. My hpx had the exact same problem.
I check and recheck every nut and bolt on all my offroad vehicles. It's the nature of the beast that they will come loose.
Mechanically I have not seen one post of an xuv failure.
If I have missed one please direct me to the post.

A rattle is not a failure~! :p

the hpx's never had all the complaints in the forums like the xuv's did . i never heard of anyone returning thier hpx's.the xuv it a pretty good machine but i would still give it a year . now if you haven't read all the complaining about the xuv's i'm not gonna go and dig them up for you being you posted in them too . it's ok to say that things have problems thier first year out they all do.some never get over thier problems. you just seem to have got the best xuv out of the bunch . lol and yes a rattle is a failure if you pay over 10k for something you surelly don't wanna ride around rattleing all the time . you want it to be right !

I understand 100%.
TommyXUV4X4 doesnt sound as cool as TOMMYHPX4X4.

Other than the name the xuv rides better starts better handles easier climbs better and is lots faster.
I can fix a rattle. :)

For once my wife enjoys riding and driving the gator.

I loved both my 05 and 06 hpx. They wern't in the same league as the xuv.I traded my 06 hpx and $14 hundred bucks for my xuv.
For $14 hundred bucks I got independent rear suspension (no more rear diff hung in the mud),
More ground clearance, easier starting with fuel injection (no more fuel leaking from carb on steep inclines),and better maneuverability.

You can keep waiting for the next model or you can have fun today~!

I wanna have fun today!

So who wants to let me borrow 1400 bucks ??

Ok but seriously I wish I could trade my gator in for 1.4k. I've now got 2 boots that are shot, some sort of major driveline problem, a busted splash guard, a semi-broken hood, and oh yeah 600 hours on it.

i have plenty of fun on my hpx . and the name ain't got nuthin to do with it.it's just if i buy a utv or atv i wanna buy one that is not gonna be rattleing or making all kinda noise thats all. i don't wanna hear you just gotta tghten this or that . they should have done that at the factory . it's funny the people buying hpx's don't come in here complaining about the rattling and bad noise why. becasue it's not a new unit the bugs have been worked out.and next year if i get a xuv my name will stay "tommyhpx4x4" i plan on keepin my hpx i got plans for a 29hp for it when the stock one goes. i just hate to part with it.

man you got problems "Darkday" and i thought i was bad with my two cracked fenders and one cracked headlight housing. not to mention i need a new headlight . all them pressure washings took a toll on the reflector coatings on the headlight for the passenger side.i'm gonna be pulling the whole cab off in a few days to do some work to it. i wanna do some work to the overhead console . and maybe see about a sun roof.

Yeah the irony of my crappy display name is coming back to haunt me.. The problem with at least one of the boots is I have no idea how to get the drive shaft out. It's the one about halfway up the gator near a grease point.

Anyone have any idea what would cause the gator to not go into nuetral when you are braking ? A stump went through my splash guard and nailed the primary clutch but I don't know what it might have done...
