I'm actually going to have to read my 300cx manual now. I've done this technique, be it good or bad, a few times without issue. I wonder if other non-green brands lack the strength of the green 300cx? After reading many threads, it seems some orange hydraulic cylinders can be bent way too easily.

Nice try but I think NOT.....

I would have never though to fill the bucket before grading with it. I've always done the tires off the ground maneuver which inhibits steering. Thanks!

It's sort of like using a screwdriver as a chisel except for a lot more expensive of a fix. It can be done even though you shouldn't do and when you do use the screwdriver, it doesn't break everytime but has the potential to everytime. As long as your willing to deal with the possible consequences, keep on doing it.
And finally I don't think it has to do with the color of the cylinders but the basic principles of the cylinders.

It is a leverage and column strength issue with the cylinders at full extension. That expensive green paint dosn't make the cylinders any stronger:)

You're absolutely right! Not only can the amazing 300cx back drag with the bucket in full dump position, but it can bull doze going forward in the same position! You SHOULD do it every day as much as possible!

Arrgh! I can't do it. NO NO NO! even the amazing 300cx can bend the bucket cylinders like a pretzel. Hit a rock or a tough root and you will make a payment on the hydraulic repair guys summer house.

Deere cylinders aren't that much better than the competitions'. You will be able to break them, just keep trying.

I want to thank you guys for this thread. I had read that there was a position that was not recommended for the FEL bucket but didn't know what it was. I have done the back dragging the bad way too many times and have been very lucky so far. I won't be doing it that way any more. I try to learn something new every day but seldom learn something as valuable as the loader bucket position recommendations.

Maybe I should paint my "orange" cylinders green so that they would become indestructible! Then I could use my loader for bulldozing just like those nice green tractors.

MadDogDriver--Those are the EXACT same diagrams that are in my Kubota loader manual. They must be universal technique instructions and warnings. . .except for Deere of course.:D
