That seems like and odd comment, in all my years at TBN never seen a BX owner with a loader have any problems with steering , so that comment is out of left field I think. As for clearance, yes could be better , but I have built ATV trails thru my 40 acres of bush and swamp, got firewood etc etc and clearance never a problem , I did put a plywood protection plate underneath to prevent large sticks from getting up into cooling fan . So just by being reasonable and using common sense one can easily work in the bush with that clearance.

I agree. Steering has never been an issue on my BX25, and in fact I think it does have power steering. Also, Bro-Tek and bxpanded.com both make great skid plates to protect the little plastic HST fan. (You MUST get a skid plate, because the HST fan is VERY vulnerable and VERY expensive to fix.)

And, come to think of it, clearance underneath has never been an issue for me, either, and I have had my BX25 for some 8 years now, with about 650 hours on it.

That seems like an odd comment.

Here is the OP's thought in Post #1: "The smallest tractor I know much about is my B7800 and I like it a lot. On one hand I wonder if would be happier just getting a loader and backhoe for that rather than thinking about a BX25D?"

I bought a BX in 2005 and in the following years my ONLY regret was not getting the backhoe model, even though I also have a much larger tractor with backhoe. There have been dozens of projects where the large backhoe could not get to the job due to transportabiliy or sheer size. These were projects that had to be dug by hand, something my 71 year old body doesn't do well with anymore. Once rented a mini-excavator to remove a stump... the thing cracked some concrete and tore up the yard getting into position. BX+hoe would have been much better. Adding a BH to your B is an alternative, but the little BX TLB packages is hard to beat.

Oh yeah....add a thumb to the hoe and add a bunch more things you can do with it. I use it to hold tree trunks off the ground when cutting fire wood and picking up and placing large rocks......

I have 1 acre of land , I bought a used bx2200 with the front end loader , It was the first small tractor I have ever owned or operated .
4 wheel drive was a must for me since my property had a good slope to it as well as pure clay.
I use my tractor mainly as a mower , the mowing deck is fantastic , everything has grease zirks , and the blades are very heavy duty , the drive belts never slip .
The frames on the bx2200 were not intended for a back hoe , but some people have installed a backhoe with great success , If I find a responsibly priced used backhoe I will do the same .
The loader only holds about 1 and a half wheel barrow's worth of dirt .
That darn plastic fan is a pain .
I have a bad knee from a old injury and the rocker pedal really gets it to hurting .
You did not say how much land you are going to use it on .
I personally would recommend making sure you buy a model with the heavier frame , also really take a good look at the pedals and make sure they are a good fit .
The power steering is a luxury that I really enjoy .
Also consider the roll bar , my roll bar is one piece and I can't mow to close to the live oak tree's without hitting , and I'm not cutting those big beautiful sweeping limbs.

We have have/had several Kubota machines - 2 B's, L, and currently a MX 5100 and BX25D and a KX (Mini Ex). I like the BX the best for mowing hands down (Great on hills and sure maneuverable). The steering is a nonissue. I move gravel a lot and a full bucket causes no problems with steering.
Even having much larger machines and a dedicated hoe I still use the BX for a lot of jobs. It is easy on a yard even with the hoe and loader on, you can squeeze it in places larger machines don't fit and is great on gas.
It sounds like that for your uses it will work great. I also find that having a hoe is handier than you think - when it is right there it is easy to grab it for a quick job and it sure beats a shovel.

I own a BX-25 and a B3030 with a cab. The BX is pretty much a finish tractor, it's nice for jobs after the fact. If you are really rural and didn't need a small machine, I would encourage you to look at the B-26. It's constructed for heavy duty stuff. In fact, while you can drop the back hoe, you can never remove the loader. And because its motor is 26 hp, it doesn't require that crazy emission baloney.
