Just bought my tractor, B7510HSD *see I Bleed Orange post.* I was out testing it out for about 10-15 mins with my finish mower and it just lost all power. Disengauged the PTO and still no power. It will not hold a higher RPM and seems that it will die if I hold the forward/reverse pedal down with almost full throttle. If I let it set for 2-3 mins idling, the RPMs will go back to normal but when I go forward, no power and almost dies with some black/blue smoke coming out. Kinda freaking out. Help please! /forums/images/graemlins/confused.gif /forums/images/graemlins/confused.gif /forums/images/graemlins/confused.gif

Maybe a clogged air intake?

Check your seat switch.. it may not be making a good connection while seated and will cause the tractor to die if the hydro pedal is used.

Just a thought, and I don't want to sound like some responders where the exchange goes something like this:

Post: "My tractor won't start"
Reply: "What RPM's are ya runnin' at?"

But - since you're new to the tractor, and its a new Kubota (rare for them not to run right), I just want to make sure you know the deal about the hydro pedal not being like an accelerator pedal. In high range I can bog down my 5030 pretty easily by pushing the pedal down all the way with any kind of load on the tractor. Are you hearing a high-pitched moan coming from the HST? That would indicate that plenty of power is going to it, but it's trying to flow too much fluid for the power available to it, like starting a standard off in too high a gear.

At a given engine speed, range, and load, you can only push the pedal down so far before you start using up available power. Have you tried it in low, with moderate pedal?

I know this is a long-shot and you've probably tried all this, just wanted to make sure you were up to speed on this aspect of hydros.

Other than that, on a brand-new Kubota .... hmm, I'd be freaking out too. It's in its "shake-down" period when little gremlins can crop up, simple little things. Bad fuel, clogged/blocked fuel line, air filter in wrong, something restricting the air supply ... good luck, and please keep us posted.

I guess I should start with the air filter then go to the fuel lines. I tried backing off the pedal in high and low 4x2 and 4x4, still I lost all power. If fully depressed, it will die. Also checked to make sure parking brake wasnt engauged. Thanks for all your help. Anything else you think of, please let me know!

LOL, I read that too fast! I read it as "I'm fully depressed and I want to die" /forums/images/graemlins/laugh.gif

Hang in there, life's too precious to let tractor problems get you down!

If I can be serious for a moment, and the jury is still out on that one, I really do know what you must be going through and in your place I would be just about crying right about now. Keep giving us as many clues as possible. There's an answer, let's find it. Or better yet, get your dealer over there tomorrow morning, chop-chop. Customer down!

Good luck, John

??

Are you saying it has to be running 2-3 minutes before it will even rev-up? If so, I'd freak-out too.

If it's just dying when you press the pedal, stand up (off the seat) and see if it behaves differently. If not, it's just the seat switch. A long shot, but a shot nonetheless.

Good luck!

OK, stop the presses. I just read "I'm an owner" (I bleed orange). I'm an Owner

Ryan, I didn't catch on that it's a used tractor! That changes almost everything. How many hours? What is causing that "knocking"? How loud is it? Is it normal diesel clatter, or is the engine shot? Did your check clear yet? So many questions!

Russell, jump in here, we have a potential emergency!

Just to give you a little something to think about... Black smoke indicates that the engine is overfueling. This could be due to a lack of air too. Blue smoke indicates oil burning. This could be from a lack of air causing the engine to suck its air from the crankcase. So that's why I mentioned that first. My rule of thumb is to KISS(keep it simple stupid/nothing implied there) /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif...Also, I'm a bit curious about the other issues you may have had with this tractor as CT mentioned. Could it be something that came about gradually?

the tractor only has 84 hrs on it. very well taken care of. ran perfect when i demo'd it. the clatter i believe is normal but im new to tractors. it only clatters for the first 2-3 mins or so when it is started up. I havent had a chance to check the air intake... we have been having 40+ mph winds for the past 2 days... gotta love oklahoma weather!

Yes, if i had kept the pedal depressed it would of died, then i would sit there and wait for 2-3 mins for the rpms get back up.
its still under warranty so i shouldnt be worrying but its just the thought, had it for half a week and still havent gotten in enough play time! /forums/images/graemlins/crazy.gif

Whew. /forums/images/graemlins/crazy.gif It may be big, it may be little, but it ain't common...

CT's advice then applies: Get thee to a dealer!
