Need a New Tractor, Definitely Mahindra, Need Some Suggestions

Just getting into this thread. Very good information and suggestions. I have a John Deere "A" that was given to me by my father. It is a good old tractor but no loader or all wheel drive. I have been wanting to either keep it and purchase a new Mahindra 4010 with loader. We have 40 plus acres and 20 of that is hay field. I have three Mahindra dealers in my area along with New Holland, John Deere and Case. The only one who has given me the time of day is Mahindra. I have looked at the 5010 also. Price difference is minimal and for the extra 10 horse power, the 5010 may be a better buy. I would like some other user feed back on both of these models if I could. Pro or con, does not matter.

Get all the HP that you can in the frame size that you are considering. Can't say that I have ever heard, " I have to much power".  The 5010 will serve you well.

If you are going open station, might want to consider the 35 series machines, especially the 5035. Check them all out just to be sure. Better then second guessing.

Good luck;)

Thanks for the info. Our Mahindra dealer has several 5010 gear tractors to pick from. I like the size and lay out. Price is good and they tell me the 5010 is their bet seller. Anyone have any problems with this model??

Mahindra dealers were the only ones that responded to me too. They must want to sell tractors, not sure what the other guys are doing.

Thre is a thread under owning operating indicating there is a recall on the engine thermostat not letting the engine heat up. It's under Daedong engine problems as they are the engine manufacturer for that particular unit.

Update: The LS dealer FINALLY called and said he had the tractor in that I was originally interested in. Said he'd lost my contact info and just found it, said he'd had one in for the last three weeks and was keeping one on the lot if I was still interested. Also said he'd sold two in that time. I said things had changed and wouldn't be able to buy one from him... what I didn't say was I bought a Mahindra instead! Got the tractor, quick hitch and a blade for less than what he wanted for just the tractor and I'd have to get my own financing to get the LS.

Well, change 76. I have listened to advice and suggestions and have decided the skid steer really has limited use based on my needs and I do not want a skid steer spinning and turning on the alfalfa field and pulling it up by the roots.

Going shopping this week for the new tractor. Wife has given me a budget so the 5010 cab is probably out of the question, but will see. I am looking at the 4535 4wd PST and hope to get a grapple, and pallet forks keeping the out the door price at 28000 or less. Think this is possible?

I would love to have the cab in the winter, but that adds a few grand to the price, the 3616 is not big enough and the 5010 may be bigger than I need, but nothing in between with a cab that might fit in the budget.

Will see how it goes and will post the end result including pics if I purchase.
