...would a new landpride 15 series[standard duty]rotary cutter for 825.00 be a fair price...

I like LandPride... pretty good stuff across the board... but I think they are weak in the rotary cutter market...

The last I had checked, on their standard duty cutters, they used 3/8" thick blades and thinner skin for the decks compared to the average 1/2" thick blades most others use and slightly thicker deck on the "entry/standard" level unit...

You let your eye be the judge on the fit and finish paint job to help in judging quality... but in reality after a few outings with a rotary cutter doing "real brush" not grass... you end up being concerned more with durability than with looks... /w3tcompact/icons/eyes.gif

For ~ $550... give or take $50... you can buy a unit like KingKutter that may not look as nice... but it gets the same job done, has heftier blades, and you can apply the extra $300. you saved toward another implement... /w3tcompact/icons/smile.gif

I wish I knew where you fellows were getting these rotaries for under a grand. My 6 footer was close to 3700, I bought a very slightly used one for an extra for 2000 and thought I got a deal.

That helps, I don't feel as bad, I'm running a much heavier gearbox, still though, quite a price difference.

King Kutter does offer a 60 and 80 HP gearbox, and heavy duty models.
But I can't tell you how much this adds to the price.

I just went into the bush hog pages and I am starting to understand why the price difference. I'm running a 110 hp gearbox. Even with the heaviest guage material for deck and sides I have added to that. I have had a 4ft woods and a 5ft JD. Of course they were on smaller tractors, but still took a beating, and looked like it too. This one I have now will handle the heaviest of mowing trees and still looks great after 6 yrs. Guess the extra money was well spent.

Hi Randall,

I'm assuming a 5' entry/standard level rotary cutter because of price and the "15" series he mentioned... but I never saw any size mentioned by the original poster...

A few fellas mentioned some 6' finish mowers, so maybe this thread went off on a tangent... /w3tcompact/icons/wink.gif

Let me guess what rotary cutter you have... umm... a Servis-Rhino, Bush Hog, Schulte, OFAB or is it Brown...? /w3tcompact/icons/smile.gif

I think we need to ask the question, was BWS talking about a rotary cutter (brush hog) or a finish mower in his original post? I had assumed that he was talking about a finish mower, because I have a Landpride 15 series, and it's a finish mower. Do they have a 15 series rotary cutter? I don't know.

So...BWS, which are you looking at?
